Water Pump needs replaced at 17k miles - Tires too
Just had my 2 year old 2017 AWD RX Fsport in for inspection today and Lexus told me my water pump started to leak so they will be replacing it under warranty. It only has 17k miles!
No other issues so far except 3/32 front and 6/32 back for tires which are the 235/55/R20 Michelin Premier LTX. Rotated at 5, 10, and was going to be today at 17k, seems they shouldn't wear that fast?
Anyone else have water pump issues on their 4th gen RX?
Also, any suggestions for new tires?

Thanks for your experience with the two different advisors, mine would not budge on this as I missed my 15k rotate by 2k miles! I will try another.
No leakage from water pump that I could see or any indication, it was a shock to me.
This picture below was on my inspection report but not sure what part it refers to, does anyone know, is this the leak they are talking about?

I think the pink colour around the opening is coolant and this is what the advisor may have called a leak, to me it looks more like seepage, but it's good that he caught it.
Any mechanical part may fail for a number of reasons, and it's not normal, that's why they are replacing it.

My water pump got replaced at 55K miles which is out of warranty. He said i was leaking, but i never saw any leaks. So, if they want to give me a new water pump for no charge, i have no complaints.
However, they replaced it at no charge to me. Wonder if its some sort of recall or TSB.

I have a 2016 RX and my water pump was replaced under warranty for the same reason. Took it in for service and adviser stated: UPON INSPECTION FOUND WATER PUMP LEAKING COOLANT ~ ~FOUND WATER PUMP SEALS WITH POOR MATERIAL CAUSE COOLANT TO LEAK ~ ~REPLACED WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

Hi! I realize it’s an older post and Lexus RX models are incredibly reliable but still wanted to post that my 3 year old 2017 Lexus RX 350 was in for routine maintenance At 25k and they found water pump leaking. Diagnosis is ‘water pump leaking, water pump assembly and / or a gasket using the engine support’. This was fixed under warranty.

A water pump is a mechanical device and thus can go bad at any time. The manufacturer should warrant a water pump for at least 100,000 miles. This is just my opinion. It would be advised for the car owner to do a coolant flush at least every 50,000 miles or 6 years. All fluids in a car turn to sewer after time. Moisture seeps in little by little .... year after year. This also applies to brakes and transmission systems. The moisture turns the hydraulic fluid into sludge. What the manufacturer suggests is overkill. I don't have magic number. Maybe 5 years or 40000 miles. 50000 miles

Wow, wondering what's the stats of water pump failures in 4th Gens which is expensive to repair out of warranty.
My MY-2017 just hit 96K km (~60K mi) but so far don't see any traces of leaks in my garage. I guess I'll find out as It's due for Service #3 with coolant & trans fluid recommended replacement interval.
