Default 2017 15K miles RX Rear Main Seal leaking twice in a row

Hello, here is my first post and wish everyone a wonderful holiday!

4 months ago I brought my RX to dealership for service, they told me that they found oil leaking from rear main seal, then they booked me in for repairing, after the fix, I noticed that the work order indicating nothing worked on the rear main seal, they only did re-seal on the secondary oil pan, at that point I thought they found the real leaking source is from oil pan, I didn't question them.

Now, I brought my car to the same dealership for regular service, this time, I have been told again they found oil leaking from rear main seal! Unbelievable, how could it possible? is the RX quality really this bad?

My question is, is the dealership trying to book me for unnecessary work in order to get profits from Lexus? or could it be possible that the technician misdiagnosed the oil leaking source, just randomly picked a spot and trying to fix things? Since the rear main seal is a very invasive fix, I'd like to avoid it if it is not 100% necessary, is there any things I could do for this situation? or maybe ask them double check the cause?

Any advise would be much appreciated, thanks.

Do you have access to another Lexus dealer?

There couple Lexus dealers nearby my home, but less reputable than the one I went, that's why I'm also afraid going to them.

Get your friends to recommend an independent auto shop. Have them put your car on the lift and they should be able to tell easily if the seal is leaking.

Do you have an oil spot under the car?

I don't think so as such a leak would be covered by warranty, though a seal may be considered as a consumable it would not be considered such after only 2 yrs and the low mileage you have (I imagine)

Usually seals go bad early due to high internal temps, i.e. engine running low on oil or something to that effect... check oil levels every so often to ensure there's enough oil
