Car Play and Android Auto for RX350, when?
Does anybody know when the Car Play and Android Auto will finally come to RX350? I am in the market for a new RX350 and that is almost a deal breaker for me. I read somewhere someone speculated for this October. Just wondering anybody in this forum would know better or more. Thank you in advance.

I am not confident that I can tear up the console parts and install an aftermarket product without causing damage. So I would rather get it directly from Lexus. If I need to wait, I can wait. Just wonder how soon.

I doubt RX will have those soon. They have added Car Play to some other models, but no Android Auto. Those features will impact the factory navigation (and map update) sales. So it is like pulling the tooth.

If I have to bet, it'll be the 2020 RX350.
The following Lexus Vehicles are compatible with Apple CarPlay®:
• 2019 LC
• 2019 RC
• 2019 LS
• 2019 UX
• 2019 ES with Navigation Package, and select models* with the Lexus Multimedia System
• 2019 RC-F (select models*)
• 2019 NX (select models*)
Spot anything missing?

OTOH, if you are uncomfortable to open the console, you can just buy a good mount for much cheaper and put a phone or a tablet there. With a build-in/factory Android Auto, if you have map open while streaming music, you will not see the media information. With the phone/tablet setup, you can run Android Auto on phone/tablet and Bluetooth the music/voice to factory head. Basically you will have dual-screen and can see everything.

It's too bad that we all have to suffer while Lexus decides to 'reinvent the wheel' instead of using mainstream applications that have widespread customer acceptance and a robust development schedule. The Lexus apps are an embarrassment to an otherwise great brand. I'm not sure if it is pride or economics that is driving their decisions; but unfortunately it is certainly NOT the customer.

I just recently sold a BMW X3 M40i, and the BMW iDrive system is light years ahead of this 2019 Lexus. The user interface with the Lexus reminds me of a computer from the late 80’s. Toyota needs to step it up...a lot. Look at the Tundra, same platform for 12 years.

Hard to believe Toyota is away behind others. Aren't they #1 auto maker in the world? What happened to this giant?!!!

According to a video I found on Youtube and if I understand it correctly, Android Auto is coming to RX350 in September and 2020 RX350 is supposed to "be refreshed" (not exactly sure about what that means). Just FYI. So guys just wait for 2020 RX350 that way you get your favorite Car Play or Android Auto feature and a "refreshed" RX.

RX Re Fresh?
Been hearing a lot of chatter about an RX Re Fresh coming. Anyone know specifically when? The mouse is terrible and no apple/android play. Come on...

This topic is the reason I signed up to this forum and delaying my new car purchase.
After using Waze with AA/Carplay, you just can't go back to a factory navigation system.
Here's hoping the 2020 RX supports AA/Carplay.
In other news, Toyota recently announced the 2020 Highlander with AA/Carplay.
