In spring of 2018 I bought a used 2016 RX350 and on Christmas eve, some idiot ran a stop sign in front of me and I think my car is going to be totaled. Takes a long time for insurance to look at it due to the holidays. Found a low mileage 2017 RX350 F-Sport with all the options we like, but the navigation on the 2016 RX350 is TERRIBLE, especially here in Canada and there was major highway construction where the in-laws live, so even new cars have outdated maps. If I can use Google Maps for navigation on the big screen that would help a lot. Otherwise I may just have to get a loaded 2019 Acura RDX (Canadian packages are different than US).
With this Android box, if not using it (phone not plugged into it), does it affect the Lexus screen operation at all? Home button, Bluetooth, Phone calls, SiriusXM, etc?
How does it know where the voice commands have to go? When you are not using the android box, the regular car commands still work?
OK, so is the conclusion that this system works Awesome, Great, OK, or Poor? Also, if this an easy DIY or best to have an installer do it? Thank you!
the system work somewhat awesome (bonus point is the carplay android software get updated monthly OTA and keep getting new features such as automatic night mode and custom car icon). If you have experience with disassemble the headunit and familiar with the headunit cables, it’s pretty easy. The cables all have unique connectors, can’t plug them incorrectly. If you trust yourself, do it. It takes you an hour. Otherwise, come to an installer.
So I received confirmation it's on its way. How long did it take for you to receive it? Also, do you have to take the screen out or just the console unit?

it will take between 2-3 weeks.
Yep, you need to take the screen out to plug in the display cable splitter. It pretty easy. Just pop out the screen back cover, and the little plastic piece in front of the screen. Then you will see a bolt in the back on the passenger side and 2 bolts in front of screen (if I remember it corectly) to remove to move the screen and reach a blue and a white connectors in the back of the display.
