Can anyone confirm this is set up as another audio source. So it's doesn't operate like a true integration with the car's existing system where you're listening to music on AM/FM or Siruis through car and Android Auto/Carplay interrupts (like my Accord integration)? If you want to play music, it has to be through the phone?

Would like to know that also.

Not sure I understood. The sound is through AUX, I guess it is another audio source(?).

You switch between AUX or Bluetooth and your other media sources like Radio/Sat Radio/usb etc. AUX or Bluetooth will have the android boxes sound that your stock system still processes as audio.

Use AUX...much more reliable.

Archryhntn 05-15-19 11:59 PM

Can you listen to regular car radio or Sat radio while you are using Waze with CarPlay?

I think that answers the question that it's another audio source entirely so let's say you're just using Android Auto/Carplay for navigation, it won't play any music from other inputs (AM/FM, Sirius) since it's on AUX or Bluetooth, you need to have music through your phone?

True OEM system that are Android Auto/Carplay compatible allow you (at least for my 2017 Accord) to play Sirius as an input, AND plug in your phone to car's USB and I can have Android Auto pulled up for Navigation. While it plays Sirius OR AM/FM the Android Auto will chime in (music reduced) for my turn by turn or Google Assistant commands. So I DON'T expect this ability in these aftermarket systems right?

I have been following this forum for a month and jumped into buying the android box on May 6th (Monday) during one of AliExpress deal days, got the box for $430 plus $25 shipping.

Same evening (US time) got a questing from the sellers, asking for pictures from my car - 2016 RX350 to confirm which box I need. Since I have a non navigation model, with the small 8” screen, they advised me to buy additional touch screen for $35.
Shipment went out the same day via DHL and I got the shipment on Friday. Order to receipt - FIVE days.
Cudos to Cosmo and the team!!!

Also, Cosmo has been very responsive with questions.
I hope to put the box in the car this weekend.

Since I use AUX to get voice, so if switching to FM, I can still use CarPlay but will not have voice from phone.

Correct. It's not a true OEM system...that's obvious. It's just the best we have for models 16-19. End of story.

Hi I joined because I'm about to pull the trigger on a similar unit that Cosmos has for a 2013 GS350. I was just wondering if anyone if having call quality issues like @Gottspd is having?

Thanks!

Bearcat 05-17-19 10:40 AM

Yeah, call quality is poor but feasible.

Thanks this helps since I was initially thinking I would do a CPO 2017 RX with this mod but now I'm going to wait to see if they put it in the 2020 and get new.
