Default From GS to RX

hi all,

i currently have a 2015 GS350 and absolutely love it. My lease is almost up and I am considering getting an RX. However, I am a little concerned that the RX is not very athletic. Is the F sport version any better? Anyone who had a similar transition care to share their thoughts? I really like everything else about it.

Apples and oranges with sedans and SUVs.

i second that... while the RX is "athletic" for an SUV - you cant compare it a GS..

i still drive our first gen IS - and its night and day between the two.

RX - more comfort. GS - more fun. Your choice I sit in traffic all day so I'm happy in comfort but of course when I leave for open roads out of the city, I know that I can't enjoy a tight corner or very spirited driving.

I recently made the switch from my 2015 GS to a 2018 RX350L. As everyone mentioned it is apples and oranges. If you want an SUV with a sportier drive you will have to go with the competitors. I was considering Q7. It had a nice blend of comfort and handling. In the end I chose reliability over sportiness.

did you try the f sport trim? I test drove the regular trim and was a little underwhelmed. The NX seemed to be more enjoyable but I didn’t care for the interior. There are sporty SUVs so I don’t accept the sedan vs SUV comment that others tried to make. I’ve had a Nissan Murano 10 years ago and the ride was quite enjoyable at the time.

I did test drive the F Sport trim. The seats are conforming (more adjustments than the regular RX. Some report not liking the fit) and overall ride is a notch sportier than the regular RX. Unfortunately, I needed the in a pinch 7 seater ability. The RX350L is not currently offered in the F Sport ( I would have selected a RX350L F Sport if it was available. Mostly because I like the appearance of the front grill). The NX is definitely a different ride. I feel it doesn’t have as a refined interior, larger cabin space and highway speed torque (especially with a full car. It’s loud when the pedal is pressed. Some enjoy that. But it does have the same tone as a V6) the RX has. This is the fun part for you... get to test drive all the cars!! There are a lot of sporty SUV’s out there. I’ve had an X5 and that handled well. But, was in the shop a lot.

It’s too bad they are going to discontinue the GS after 2019.

Hope you find the right fit for you!
Happy hunting.

NX is noisy and smallish and FSort seats are awful. Nobody says the ride isn't enjoyable but there is no SUV that has similar driving dynamics to a sedan.

I also have a Macan and it's very sedan like. A lot of folks take their Macan to the track. Never say never...

I haven't tried the F-Pace yet but the Macan S was a level above the SQ5 for sure.

It makes my RX feel terrible. Lots of understeer and obviously slow acceleration.

RX made for highway cruising and it is great at that from my perspective.

Oh yeah no doubt. RX is more plush and luxurious and better for the daily commute. The Macan is more like a mistress and the RX is the dependable wife.

i absolutely love the Macan but it doesn’t lease well and I don’t want to buy it because of maintenance costs.

Perhaps the greatest analogy ever made. Congrats
