Default Anyone here that owned/owns the 1st Gen RX and has the 4th Gen RX?

Kind of feel like it was yesterday that the 1st Gen crossover RX300 landed at the shore of North America. If I am not mistaken, it was one of the first Lexus crossover vehicle in the car market. When I got mine in 2000, it kinds of feel special being one of the owners that got this very attractive car. Fast forward to 18 years later(how time flies), I once again find the Lexus RX being attractive(like the sportier design) again, just like when I got the 1st gen RX. Wonder if anyone on this board owned/owns the 2 generation RX, and shares the same feeling.
BTW, got the Atomic Silver RX AWD, love the color, can't keep my eye off it.

I bought mine in Jan. 2000. Still looks like new with 93,000 miles. I am going to get a 2019 when they arrive. Between me and my wife, the 2019 will be our 4th Lexus.

Nice. With the exception of nicks and dings and scratches and a tiny area with bubbling paint, mine still look like new after all these years. I often refer her as the "shiny old car". I think Lexus tried hard in the design and manufacturing the 1st Gen RX to make sure the product is successful in its first introduction.

Cheers!

Gen1, Gen3 and now Gen4 FSport.
Gen1 was very quiet, drove it for 7yrs, Gen3 had a sporty noise to it and now trying to get used to Gen4.
Gen4 is heavy on gas.
BTW for all Gen1, Gen3 and Gen4 have only used 87 octane gas, never had any performance issues. I still have 2007 ES350 with over 200k km on it and drives really smooth, no major issues so far.

Bought my first one in Nov. '98, had the '06 hybrid, '10 and the current '16. While I could use the size of the smaller RXs, I was very disappointed in the NX so bought the '16RX.

Had a 06 RX400H I loved, at 144K needed a radiator and AC condenser. 0ver $4k on a car worth about $6k.
decided to upgrade since Wifie wanted all the new safety features, so a CPOed 17 RX350 was purchased.
still miss the 06 RX, but, like the new one.
Seating was more comfortable on the 06, as it was the top of the line, even though the 17 is nicely equipped.
wifie complains because the new RX is larger, wanted an RX size, which I vetoed!
such is life!

Yes I bought the 99 RX-300 and have only owned RXs since then. The 99 RX was really something special at the time. It set the bar for many manufacturers to copy.
My standard response to people interested in the 300 was to not test drive it unless you were able to afford one.

Outstanding features:
1. FULL SIZE SPARE under the trunk lining.
2. Plenty of storage compartments under the trunk lining.
3. Intuitive display on the console. No book or instructions needed.
4. Wonderful center console storage via two pull out drawers.
5. Open space between the two seats at foot level.
6. Absolutely wonderful handling of bumpy roads. Washboard gravel roads, Road drainage dips, Turning corners with bumps.
7. A bit of extra clearance and under front end protection. Lexus made an attempt to recognize that the RX might not
always be on paved roads.

I wish Lexus had been able to match the 99RX-300 on models even up today. My 2018 has a superb ride, but it doesn't match
the rough road handling of the 99 300.
