Default Possibly a new RX350 in my future

Ok, so I went and had my 2007 ES350 serviced this week and they gave me a 2018 RX350 for a loner for the night. It seems Lexus plan worked as we really liked the loner car. Now, we are really thinking of trading our ES350 for the RX350.

Our 2007 ES350 has only 63,000 miles and has spent most of it life in the garage. It really is like brand new inside and out we are older with no kids. We really love that car but the new car bug has bitten us and we really like the RX350 as well. They have a 2017 CPO RX350 with 20,000 miles on it for only $42,000 like brand new. As it will have more warranty then a new one and about $13,000 cheaper it seems like deal. The mileage doesn’t matter too much as we never put a lot of miles on a car anyway.

Any thoughts??

be aware, when shopping price, options can add up to over 20k
i mention this because not all are optioned the same, some might be on the thin side without a sunroof, others have everything stuffed into them, and many are somewhere in the middle.

Also, if you could i would drive a rx450 for comparison, if that is of interest to you.
enjoy whatever your decision is.

Go to lexus.drivers.com and register for free. Add the vin # and than look under service history. It will give you a detailed record of the RX and much more data than Carfax.

I swapped my 2015 ES-350 for a 2017 RX0450H. The car had softer and more comfortable seats (Nulux -car, high end leather in RX) and was a bit more quiet on the highway as far as road noise. Being lighter, the ES had a bit more acceleration. I live in snow country and the ES got stuck a few times. The deep snow performance of the RX is much better and I like the way it sits up higher. I opted for the 450H because of its super smooth transmission. The hybrid has no hesitation when accelerating. I did have a loaner RX-350 (2017) before buying the 450H and it had no flaws either. The RX and ES are just two totally different vehicles and each has its pluses and minuses.

Without knowing a lot more about that RX, including how it is equipped, the condition of the tires and brakes, etc., there is no way to know whether $42,000 for that vehicle is a "deal". It could be a great price, or it could be a very bad deal.

In general, though, 1 and 2 year old CPO vehicles tend to be among the worst buys available in the auto market. Because not that many 1 or 2 year old cars have yet come back to dealers as trade-ins or lease returns, the supply of 1 and 2 year old vehicles is low, and because there are many buyers who are looking for a car that is "almost new", the demand is high. The combination of low supply and high demand leads to inflated prices. And dealers tend not to be inclined to be open to much negotiation on those inflated prices because they know that many buyers aren't aware of how much discounting is available on brand new cars and that someone will eventually come along and be willing to pay the inflated price for a 1 or 2 year old CPO vehicle without knowing that he/she could have bought a brand new vehicle with 0 miles on the odometer for a price very close to the price of the CPO vehicle.

The only reason why we did not get an ES is that we were looking for an AWD (living in a country where it is winter 5 months in the year).
We were going for a GS at first, but then we tried a SUV for the first time and we really liked the RX. Especially because of the view and because it is very spacious!
