New car advice - RX vs ???
#16
Talking about the ride/refinement, I bought a new 2018 Buick Encore about a week ago. For a small subcompact CUV, it is surprisingly smooth and quiet, even close to my RX's level. It is for my kid, but I have been driving it daily since I bought it.

Buicks are typically good riding - smooth and quiet. Reliability may be another story though.

Happy motoring, but good luck with that 11 sec. 0-60 acceleration time (according to CR).

Pole Position
J D Power Dependability study for 2018 just came out. This is seven years in a row #1. Lexus improved 11 points from last years score of 110.
Lexus GS won top honors in midsize premium car. ES won top honors in compact premium car. RX won top in midsize premium suv. Small premium car Lexus CT wins top honor.

Congrats on the new car. Wife drives an RX450h.
Got to say I'm not impressed with the LKA. Recently on a longer road trip in windy conditions with LKA on the steering was imprecise and difficult to control. It felt like one had to fight the car to keep it centered in the lane actually. With it turned off things were normal as one would expect. It felt like in the windy conditions at high freeway speeds that the steering was drifting a bit all the time. When I switched driving with my wife she said the same thing. She said it was much more tiring trying to keep the car straight when the LKA was on.
Back home we didn't have this issue at freeway speeds. So I wonder if it was simply due to the random windy conditions causing the LKA to get confused.

I'll never understand the need for LKA.

Me either. I just left it on when driving before. Now I'll be sure to turn it off when I drive the car. I don't use cruise control either. The only feature I have found to be useful is rear cross traffic alert. Although I find that to be somewhat overly sensitive.

LKA isnt very good. But Tesla autopilot or infiniti propilot makes highway driving(especially with traffic or long drives) a delight.
