Lexus would really be going outside of the box NOT to update the RX in 2019. But good point on the very short cycle L version. They're on a pretty predictable refresh versus full new cycle for many years, and there's spy shots of the 2019 online (with taping and cladding). That said, nothings until it happens. And tech is an easy update outside of a refresh year. They added GPS Scout app and updated the software of GPS a year after this RX version came out, and the ES was refreshed. Wouldn't shock me if they do mild refresh exterior and maybe enhance ride and NVH, and the year after (2020) drop CarPlay in. The goal is selling the most cars to them, of course.

Lexus cycle is typically 6 years, mid cycle would be year 4 of production, we already have 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 is due for mid cycle.
Unless lexus wants to keep 4th Gen RX more than 6 years, 2019 is the mid cycle year.
I highly doubt they sell 2019 identical to 2016 (I am talking about non L version). There must be some changes, they dont even sell Corolla 4 years in a row without change.

Lexis usually follows very predictable patterns, and agree, there's the possibility for sales strategy they won't do the model year 2016 refresh and CarPlay in the same year. The ES being all new and on Avalon chassis which does have it does make sense to get it first. All due respect to salesman though, anyone on this forum or with Google will know more than Lexus tells their dealerships. Lexus is very good at keeping secrets. Salesman very good at saying whatever sells what's collecting dust on their lots.

Hopefully the new Lexus "copilot" will be in(currently in the new LS and confirming for the upcoming UX)... Lane Tracing assist(LTA) seems to be similar to Tesla Autopilot and is a godsend for long highway drives.

We should know by July what the changes will be for the 2019 RX. From what I have been hearing, sounds like they are thinking about doing a lot more changes to the interior cabin than what they typically would do for a mid model refresh.
