If it's on its on, regardless of if a car is in front or not.

I understand what you are saying, but you might be confused or over thinking this.
The lane centering is when the active cc is set and engaged, I think you hold the button to turn it on to make it normal cc
Lane centering is not active unless active cc is set,

Thanks for all the replies, but I'm now totally lost.

My initial issue is that I turned on cruise control on the freeway, set the speed and immediately felt the car starting to pull me out of the lane of travel I was in. If I stop resisting it steers me clean out of lane over into the lane to the left. So, it definitely not keeping me in the lane at all. This is not at all what I expect "lane keep assist" should be... I can do a bit more experimenting with radar CC off, lane centering off, etc; but I have all settings pretty much set to default and I do not get behavior I can understand and appreciate

Like others have said, sounds like there’s something wrong with yours. When I’ve had it on, it keeps me centered in the lane (though I do find it to be a little more to the left than I’d be on manual), even around curves. I’d bring it to the dealer for a demo...

This obviously should not happen on a straight road. With everything on Lane keep assist, lane centering, etc, it should keep you near the middle if not slightly to one side of the lane markers. Take a video to have proof and then take it to the dealer and they will probably have someone go with you and reproduce the symptoms.

Default Lane Keep Assist

I never paid attention to this when I had my 2016 RX 350 but is Lane Keep Assist suppose to work at low (city) speeds? When I drive around 20-30 mph the LKA screen is not showing solid white lanes which mean it's not detecting any lane markings even when they are clearly painted.

32+ mph is the base, seems to be accurate on mine.

Yep, that what the owner's manual says but for some reason I thought it was working at lower speeds on my 2016.

My dealer is currently looking at changing some steering components to try and fix this problem. I had the same issue .. car pulls to a particular side quite aggressively as soon as LKA is activated. They have already tried to recalibrate the cameras and system to no effect.

"does not maintain a good center."

LKA isnt meant for that.

LTA(Lane tracing assist) which is coming out soon late 2018 on many toyota/lexus model should maintain a good center.

Default Lane Keep Assist. LKA

I’m not happy with this feature. I have a Honda with this same feature which operates efficiently. It keeps my car within the lane.
In the 2018 350L, it doesn’t behave the same way. It tries to keep the car on the extreme right side on my lane and will veer off to the right triggering the alarm. I have to fight the steering wheel to move left in the lane to center it. On my Honda it will trigger an alarm but still will center the car.
I’ve check the instrument cluster and I have the system active.
For an extra $25,000 over I would think Lexus would have a more perfect system than a basis Honda.
Anyone else have similar issue?

See post 14. Remember that the 4th gen RX came out in 2016 with 2015 technology. Perhaps whatever Honda you have is newer?

I have an '18 and don't see it veering off to the right. It will nudge the wheel left and keep it fairly well within normal width lanes. Have you set the sensitivity to high instead of standard to try that? The Lane Centering (when cruise is on) is more aggressive, OK for divided highways but I find it hunting the center too much on curving roads (same issue I had with an Acura with their version). I'm not having any issues with Lane Keep Assist.

Had the same issue. Get the dealer to do a proper calibration on the steering. Took two goes for mine.

Does LKA work with out the cruise on? I am not talking about the vibration, nut rather the actual steering.

Yes, LKA steering "nudge" (if you also have turned on Steering Assist) works without cruise, Lane Centering does not.
