OEM Michelin, OEM Bridgestone Vs Other (merged threads)

You didn't list whether you have 18" or 20" wheels. Here's a Michelin chart for the tires recommended by Michelin (I have the 20", so I chose that diameter): Michelin 20" Tire Selection
Currently, on my vehicle are Premier LTX 235/55 R20 102 V and unless Michelin makes a replacement for this model, these will be the ones that will replace the existing tires.
The mileage you receive out of your tires will depend on your driving style, proper inflation and rotation. I have my own air compressor and all of my vehicle tires are checked every week; the spare tires every month.

+1 on the Michelin Premier LTX. I'm kind of surprised Michelin doesn't have the Pilots (best tire in the market IMO), but the Premier is newer tech. I've also had good experiences with higher end Yokohama tires. I also agree that Kumho is a very good budget tire, but they're really noisy when worn.

No, I don't play soccer!
The Michelin Premiers were designed for the 4RX. Latitude was the OE tire for the 3RX and most preferred among the three that were available. While they're not a bad tire, I'd go with the one made for the vehicle.

OEM Michelin vs OEM Bridgestone Vs Other
As per my other recent post, my OEM Michelin tires appear to be approaching their end soon at 18,000 miles. Common here in Pittsburgh to only get that kind of mileage. I priced another set of these at about $850, including installation, vs the OEM Bridgestone tires at about $100 less ($25/tire or $750 for 4, installed). Might the Bridgestones last longer? What about some other tire? What do you folks recommend?

BUT..Looking at your past vehicles pattern, you might get a 2018 soon so no need for new tires.

I have a 2010 RAV4 V6 with 50k on a set of Michelin Defenders with about 6-7 32nds tread depth on them.

Michelin Versus Bridgestone Tires on RX
I've noticed our Canadian Dealer is mostly suppling the RX 350 with Bridgestone Ecopia tires. I was looking for Michelin as was supplied on my Toyota Venza that I'm trading in. Also the Michelin tires appear on many 2016 and 2017 RX You Tube Videos. In many ratings I've seen the Michelin tires rated at #1 while Bridgestones were down the list. Is Lexus now suppling only the Bridgestone Ecpoia tires as for cost cutting reasons? Any replies would be appreciated.

My dealer was so against Bridgestone when I was shoping for my winter tires. But I still got those. The way he was talking is like if they had a bad relationship in the past. But personally I had bad experience with Michelin winter tires in the past, but for summer I way prefer Michelin.
If they provide Bridgestone now, Lexus has reconciled with Brigestone?
And why Bridgestone? I personally think because it is a Japanese company and that for price reduction, they might have formed an alliance.

My 2016 RX 450h came with the Bridgestones. I asked about getting the Michelins & the dealer said these were just as good with no complaints. I would have rather had Michelin tires, but so far these Bridgestones are OK at 17,000 miles & have great traction in the rain.
Our VW GTI came with Bridgestones & we replaced them with Michelins around 35,000 miles when the Bridgestones wore out. The Michelins grip better & are quieter, but we’re talking about a difference in performance tires on a sports car vs. a SUV tire.

I have used Michelin tires on all my cars and SUVs for many years. I always get at least 60 to 70 thousand miles on all of them. I'm pretty sure the roads in NY where I live aren't all that much different in Pittsburgh.

Sorry yours have poor longevity too, but I’m glad to know I’m not the only one.

Thanks for the replies. Speaking of winter tires I also have the Michelin Latitude X-Ice Eco Green for 6 months of winter driving on separate 17" steel rims for my old Venza and haven't had any problems with them. Got them from Costco with great service. Hoping they will add to resale / trade in value of the vehicle. Very disappointing that Lexus RX is switching over to the Bridgestones for summer driving - probably a real cost saving for them but there is no way those Bridgestone Ecopia tires are as highly rated as the Michelins.
