Default Pro-Rate For Original Tires

My original Michelin tires are at 4/32nds at 15,000 miles. Probably good for about 3,000 miles more. Here in the bad roads/hills of Pittsburgh, it’s not uncommon to need tires this often. That being said, will Lexus or Michelin pro-rate the tires? If I go thru the dealer, I’ll pay a juiced up price, and any “discount” might cost me more than if I buy from Sam’s Club, where get the best price but have no dealer clout/pro-rate (I think). What are my options and what is best? Can I get Michelin to pro rate thru Sam’s Club or another true discounter?

Why not call the dealer, ask for the GM, and talk to him/her about proration. I believe 18,000 miles is very low mileage for tires to wear out. I don't know why a discount dealer would prorate your tires since you did not buy them from this dealer. I don't know how anyone here could answer this question to your satisfaction unless someone has the same experience in which case you would still have to call the Lexus dealer.

Thanks for the reply. Well, I would imagine there are others on here who had similar experiences...that's why I asked. And I guess what I further mean to ask is whether a discounter, who is a Michelin dealer, can get Michelin to pro-rate the tires. The dealer never eats that...it's the manufacturer. So I'm asking if anyone here has had experience with a Michelin dealer, who is not the Lexus dealer, who got them to get Michelin to pro-rate original factory-installed Michelin tires. What's in it for the dealer, obviously, is a $1000+ sale of 4 new tires, perhaps partially paid by Michelin.

Yup. No abuse. Even wear, rotated every 5000, aligned once.

I think oem tires suck. My latitude is looking bad at 28000 miles on my GX.

I'm interested to know.

To be fair, I've never gotten more than 30,000 on any tire here in Pittsburgh. The roads are terrible to begin with, then you have the drag of braking all the time on steep hills. Generally go through brake pads every 12-18 months too. And it's not just me. It's how it is here. I used to drive Lexus LS cars. Same thing. 18 to 20K on tires. Same for my wife's old Ford Explorers. Sam's Club will pro-rate the tires once. So usually I pay the full monty for the second set of tires at Sam's and get the third set for about half. By then I'm ready for a new car. It would be nice to get some assistance for the first-to-second set from Lexus or Michelin, though.

The Latitude tires on my 3RX lasted me almost 70K miles before replacement.

I just went for inspection today and have 3/32 on front and 6/32 on back, about 17k miles. I also deal with horrible PA roads. I have 235/55/R20 Michelin Premier LTX from when I bought the car new about 2 years ago. AWD Fsport model.

I am shocked they wore this much already, rotated at 5k, 10k and went over just a little to rotate now at 17k and they told me the front was at 3/32.

I believe I am going to switch to a different brand of tires because of this. No warranty Lexus dealer said for factory tires!

Does anyone have experience with longevity as that is my main goal with new tires? Any suggestions on brands?

I would be suspicious because of double the wear on the fronts despite regular rotations. Doesn't make sense, unless you have an alignment problem.
OEM tires tend to have a shorter life than the same brand of aftermarket tires. Michelins are the only tires I've used on many vehicles over the years(after market) and have always gotten 50-60k on them. Probably could have gotten more but usually had dry rot on the sidewalls.
My 2017 RX is my first car with OEM Michelins, so we'll have to see what happens.

Mine was at 23,000 before I got a nail. I believe I had 4/32 left however.
I also replaced mine with the same tires but larger and I must say that the new ones seem different than the ones that came with factory.
