Default App suite for 2017 RX350

can someone let me know what functionality if any can you get with the Lexus App Suite on a 2017 RX350?

my understanding is that the main advantage is the enform app that allows controlling vehicle access, but that is not an option available on the RX, but is available on the NX and some other models. Is this correct and if so are there any other apps that are useful tibhav on the 2017 Rx’s? BTW, I’ve got an iPhone.

im coming over from a 2010 RX so am not sure what all of the advances are. Overall, I’m finding I like the new RX a lot more, but one I really miss is not having real time traffic updates on the NAV, that I did have with my ultra-premium 2010 model. I’m just wondering if there are any other features that are available through the app suite that I’m not aware of.

2017 RX NAV does have real time traffic updates through HD radio. It may be slower than internet based traffic info, but it is still there.

For the App Suite, I am using Destination Search (on the phone. Much easier than using the mouse.), iHeartRadio and Pandora.

I think the OP is from Canada.
We do not have real time HD radio traffic updates on any of the trim levels in Canada. Even Honda's have this features, but not Lexus here in Canada. There is no way to add this feature to our existing units (at least no OEM way).

The Lexus apps are not available on RX at this time in Canada either. Even if you get those apps, it is pretty buggy and useless according to some people.

Lexus Enform App Suite enables communication between your iPhone (and Androids) and the car.
Bluetooth is for speech and text, LEAS is for data and control. Unlike other Enform products that
require a subscription, LEAS is free. Download and open "Sign Up", fill it out. Benefits are phone
specific, additional drivers will need to download and enroll for use when they are driving.

When you start the car and the BT connects you will see the phone screen become a plain gray screen
with App Suite logo and "disconnect" button. Tap "Menu" on the center console and select "App Suite".
Now all the icons are on screen. (Note: the very first time you do this it will take a couple of minutes to
download the latest App Suite to the car through your phone.) LEAS need to remain running on the phone
to provide the features coming up next.

Greatest features are the Navigations aids. If the map is showing on the car's display when you
press the steering wheel speech button the car is providing the destination. If you open App
Suite and select "Destination" wait until the prompt finishes and press the steering wheel speech
button you are now using your phone for destinations. Our phones have better speech recognition
and more up to date data than the Lexus. The older the car, the more obvious this will be. No typing,
no changing State name, no need to pay for a map update (unless your destination is on a newly
constructed road). Select "Go To" if going now, "Mark" if going later. If you saved a destination in the
app before you started the car it will be available under "Saved Destinations", "Do you want to synchronize
your destinations?" Yes!

Useful extras are to teach LEAS your Music Streaming App log-ins, even free Pandora has your E-Mail and
a password. If you just use BT to play music you must lift the phone up in front of the police officer to change
genre... With App Suite the control is on screen. Minor but critical note: If Pandora (and the others) are running
on your phone, the phone is controlling them. Sweep them OFF so the car can control your choices. It is still
your Data Plan and the phone must be turned on, paired up and connected but leave only LEAS running.

thanks for clarifying. I've been reading a lot of posts and wondering if my sales person didn't fill me in on some of the features. I don't get why we don't get real time updates in canada via the satellite radio - this was available on my 2010 so I didn't even considering asking about it, since I got the F-Sport 3, which along with the Executive package is the highest trim available.

Yes well we (Canadians) are still receiving trafic info through FM radio (at least that is how my Garmin gets it, and it also worked well that way when I go in the states (California-Florida-New Jersey)).

IMHO Lexus should have kept the support also for that technology instead of going only through HD radio.

I'm having a hard time with this getting to work..

I have D/L'ed the App. The 1st time connecting , the RX updated as expected. But I don't seem to be able to get the RX screen to use the Phones Navigation App. IMO, the phones maps work better , are easier to use, more accurate etc than the RX's. I just want to be able to find an address on my phone and have it stream to the RX. Is that possible?

What if I wanted to use WAZE?

WAZE is a terrific app, go into its settings and enable Bluetooth as phone call so any warning
sounds or dialog will break into your media playback. Limitations are: 1) you must prop up the
phone to see the small map, 2) keep the phone plugged in to charge because Nav Apps take
a lot of juice.
You can access the phone using LEAS three different ways: 1) open Destination at the bottom of the
map screen, select Web Search and there will be LEAS. "Saved Destinations" will bring up to 10
destinations you previously found in your phone before entering the car. "Destination Search" will
trigger a full screen dialog box, say what you see and your phone will do the work with the results
loaded right into the Lexus Nav system. 2) Press the speech/talk button and say "Launch Destination
Search" (not ...Destination Assist...) 3) Press center console Menu button and select LEAS tab.

Mcomer;

TY and I will try this next time I have a few minutes. But my mind is wondering how you found this feature. Is it documented in some manual?

I'm a Lexus Master Certified Delivery Specialist. Trick is to remember and properly explain the features
that vary from year to year and model to model. Note: your App Store or Play Store will now show the
new App Suite 2.0. This is NOT a newer, better App Suite, it is currently only for 2018 LS, LC, NX and RC
models with Navigation. Every other Lexus model back to 2014 will still use Lexus App Suite.

You Canadian Guy’s aren’t the only ones left out in the cold. HD Radio is almost a joke. Unless you live in a city over 300,000, there is no HD Radio. There have been many instances while traveling between cities, that having live traffic updates would have prevented delays. HD Radio doesn’t reach out very far (guessing 30 miles or so).
