Default temperature freeze the gas door, happened to me twice

when the temperature drop below freezing point over night, the next morning I cannot open the gas door.
I can hear the lock click, and that was it. I have to use my credit card to open it carefully.
I got the 2017 RX 450h, anyone living in the north have this issue?

not yet, but i'm in minnesota.
does the gas door open stiff or anything ?? like needing a shot of lube on the hinge side where it pivots ??
i have only put gas in mine 2 or 3 times, since we took delivery.

Its jam by ice. Frozen. I have to hit it softly few times to break the ice. Use plastic like credit card to pull it open.
Twice already, both time temperature was about 20 degrees, that is 12 below freezing point.

Never happened to me, but then again, mine's in a heated garage! Perhaps you have ice/snow on the roof which is melting and running down the side of the car by the gas door? Water has to be getting in there somehow and freezing.

I am in Calgary, Canada. I had this 2017 RX since Nov 2017. I never had an issue with the fuel door. Once it dropped close to -37 C (-35 F) and the only problem I had was TPMS malfunctioned. I had a warning light for tire pressure for two days and finally it went away.

I drove in icy weather but I didn't try to open the fuel door right after it. It is -26 C outside here in Calgary right now. Bit of ice but mostly snow. I will try to reproduce your problem tonight. May be it is not just an issue with Lexus because I freezes everything.

It didn’t happen to me with gas door but with turn down mirrors in reverse. They froze and would not move but jiggled in place. Had to deactivate the feature for now. Here in jersey we had some freaky weather lately. It’s been 40s, then 10s and 20s with snow and freezing rain then warm again then cold immediately after. So I’m sure everything in the mirror mechanics was frozen.

I tested this today...
It is -18 C (windchill/feels like -25 C) here in Calgary. Snow/ice conditions and I drove the RX for about 25 km. Pushed the gas door and it opens just like it did the day the dealership delivered it to me. I would definitely take this issue with the service department.

nope. In park and car unlocked it pops open by pressing on gas door.

Doubt anything is wrong with the OP's gas door, it just happened to get frozen shut. Do not think a trip to the dealer will help.

I guess it depends whether it is hybrid or not.

Not yet happened to my RX but this morning it happened to my GX460. The issue here is that snow smelted and it gets cold fast so that the water droplets froze and stuck.

Why not leave the gas door slightly open, like you closed the door but did not hear the click. It will stay about 1/2 inch open.

I've had this happen once, but only because I washed the car the day before and it was -20C the next day. It takes quite a bit of ice to really jam it up. Sometimes, pushing and releasing faster will give the extra little spring to get it open.
