TFM for the '18s says engine must be in ACCESSORY at least... agreed it would be nice to be constant powered IMO.

If it was set up to provide constant power without the ignition having to be in the accessory position, I suspect that there would be a much larger number of people who would end up with dead batteries as a result of forgetting that they had something plugged into the outlet.

Besides using it for an air compressor, I suspect most people would use it for small electronics at a tailgate. It's a shame you have to power all the other things that come on when you turn on accessories. I haven't tested this yet, but can you play the radio for more more than 10 minutes before the accessories turn off?

Sure, though it seems like I recall one of the other luxury brands having a low-voltage cutoff so if the battery got too low it shut off non-essential power items like this.

A timer would have been a better solution to switching off the power.
But, then I'd prefer to have the battery in the spare tire area, too.
I liked how they moved the console Power adaptor and USB plugs higher.
It should be an option choice, since it is on all the time in most other luxury SUVs I've seen.

My cheap Mitsubishi has one always live outlet, which is very useful to charge my cell phone while sitting in the car. According to Mitsubishi user manual, if battery is too low, it will be cut off. But I never reached that point. I was surprised that my Lexus does not have that feature.

This! Converting from 12 volts to 115 volts ac is very inefficient and would run your battery down in just hours without the motor running

Sorry, I was under the impression that the cargo-area power outlet was a standard 12V "cigarette lighter" plug?

Also, modern switching inverters draw next to no power when they have no load, so I don't think 12VDC or 115VAC would make a noticeable difference in battery drain.

Hours? Are you kidding? Lexus won't let you keep the radio on for more than 10 minutes without starting the car.

I still think leaving on plus live (and cut off the rest) is a better idea.
