Default Air conditioner issue?

RE: 17 RXFSport 6 months old
Occasionally the vents begin to NOT blow cold air.
IE. last night it was 82 outside.
Both sides set to 74. Blowing only little cool air on AUTO.
Maybe just outside air, not sure, but not cold.
Increased fan to max. No change to cold air.
Then set both sides to LOW (coldest).
Then felt some colder air from vents.
Cant figure out conditions for this to occur.
Driving in Normal mode.

Anyone have this occur?
i will take to dealer, but it will be working fine I am sure at the time.
Hopefully a reset will resolve as it the reset worked on NX when no air blowing from rear seat vent.

make sure you're not on eco mode. Keep your settings on lo with manual adjustments for a while and see if that fixes the issue

74 is on the warm side for setting. Try lowering it but still on auto. Shouldn't need the lowest setting though to get cold.

I just experienced this today. I tried all the settings and manually setting to AC- it popped right out of AC within 10 sec and began blowing warm air. It was a miserable commute to and from work. Fsprt 2017- purchased 8/26/17 any recommendations welcome as the dealership is an hour away for me.

Let us know if intermittent or never.
Mine is not very often it occurs, as of now.
Hopefully dealer will have heard of the issue.
Hate intermittant issues.

Ok - today was 1st time (the car has 1500 miles on it) it was the same story on the drive home after 12 hours- luckily the cooled seats helped a bit. I will investigate more tomorrow and report back.

You clearly need to visit the dealer. The climate control in my RX is impeccable.

Had a similar issue with my '16 RX350 after I had the A/C gurgling issue done. Noticed the A/C wasn't blowing as cold even on the "LO" setting. It was especially bad if the car had been parked under the sun over the summer - it took a really long time to start blowing cool air.

Had the dealer check things on the last service, and they found that the battery was bad. They also topped up the A/C refrigerant (according to them, it wasn't low, but it wasn't full either). Since then, the A/C has been blowing cold air again. I suspect a bit of refrigerant may have leaked out during the fix for the gurgling sound; but at the same time the service guy said they suspected the battery may have not been providing enough voltage for the climate control system to operate properly (not sure I believe that part, but ...).

Not sure if this would be similar to your issue; but to me it sounds like your A/C refrigerant may be low (possible leak?). Definitely a dealer visit is needed.

I wanted to update on the service I received on my 2017 Lexus Rx 350. The air conditioner would turn off within 15-20 sec after turning it on. Congratulations to those of you who are not experiencing problems with your brand new car..
On my first visit to the dealer , Oct 17, the usual staff had no idea what was going on. They brought in a "specialist" and kept my car for several days. They checked for power at AC magnetic clutch; 12V present; checked resistance at compressor connector btw terminals 1 and 2; within specifications; tested operation of magnetic clutch by applying external source of voltage; clutch engaged; resecured connectors; AC operating tested multiple times over several days and operation was fine each tme.
Within 3 days in my possession the problem returned Oct 27. They once again brought in a "specialist" This time they replaced AC compressor and clutch; recharged with 1/4 lbs of R134A.
I assumed it was a computer problem since they could not diagnose it the first time. However the AC has been running fine since. I hope this helps anyone who may be experiencing the same problem.

Did you ever find the problem? This has happened to me 3 times in my 2016 and I have carried it in and of course the air is blowing cold. I will have it on 60 and then it's like it either freezes up or an auto comes on without me knowing it, but either way I can't resolve the issue and I live 1.5 hours away from the dealer so I can't get them to see what the issue may be. It's making me crazy!!!!

I find the climate control in the RX to be the best of any car I've ever owned. Freezing cold on the hottest of days. If you're getting limited cold air, you may have something wrong.

I think I have similar issue - my 2016 just did the gurgling noise issue - which after the "fix" I still hear it, but not as loud. After the fix, my A/C doesn't blow as cold as it used to, especially when parked in a sun. I noticed the difference after the fix, but I thought maybe its just me. I'm going to take it in and ask Lexus to look into this.

I'm definitely not going to buy first year model ever again. Even though Lexus overall is deemed a reliable brand, there have been too many small bugs with early production 2016s .

My '16 450H blew hot air on three occasions over the Summer. I tried shutting the system off then on. That didn't help. The next time, I pulled over and shut off the car. It still didn't work when I restarted the car. After each occasion, the AC worked fine after leaving the car unused for a few hours. Normally, the AC works very well even on the hottest days. But when it fails (only 3 times) it really fails. The car is going in for service today - I'll report the problem.

Update: I reported the issue to the Lexus Service Writer; “On 3 occasions the AC shut down. Normally the system works very well.” These guys (male & female) sometimes act as filters that block accurate information transfer between the owner and the service tech. The ticket delivered to the tech only said, “AC blowing warm air.” Naturally the tech checked the temp of the air & checked that the system was properly charged – a waste of his time.

The car was returned with a ‘No Trouble Found’ diagnosis. It will be off warranty next summer so I insisted that the service writer report the problem as I stated it so the tech took the car back and plugged in the diagnostic tool. Sure enough, it reported the 3 shutdowns.

Apparently, there is a device that shuts down the system temporarily if it sees a condition that could cause damage. I don’t recall what he called it. Situations like a very hot day in slow moving traffic could trigger it. Nothing was replaced but at least I have the incident on record for warranty purposes if there is something defective.
