Question on Pricing For Maintenance

My dealer wants the discounted price of $380 for 15k service. I already get free oil changes for life, so $380 is for windshield wipers and a battery for the key fob. NO WAY!

Gonna take my baby to the toyota dealer near here in Irvine. I bought my own oil from costco, it's on sale now, and I'll buy a few filters from factory lexus parts with the cl5 discount code.
I asked and they said it would cost about $30 to change the oil. I also checked out a local mechanic who charges 27.00 to change the oil if you bring your own. I really like this toyota so I'll prob go with them!

Where is the filter on the latest RX - top or bottom and is the drain plug easily accessible i.e. not covered by any shield?

Oil filter is up front and not blocked by any shield; very easy to access (as is the drain plug). You will need a filter wrench to remove it. The filter is a standard toyota insert. It is the same one used in my wife's 13' RAV4, so I bought a case (12) on ebay for $40.

Here in Australia I just did the second service (30000kms) $729.00 ($570USD), bloody thieves.

As many have stated , myself included, I have never had any service check done by any dealer, by any manufacturer...only warranty work. All you need is your maintenance book so the garage knows what to check, get a bill, and you are good to go! At half the price.

Service charges
Looking into buying my first Lexus- a 2018 or 2019 RX 350 AWD - question for those in NY/NJ/CT area - how much do regular maintenance visits typically cost? Such as tire rotations, oil change etc.
Thanks

First two services are free. After that, I plan to only do the things the car actually needs and not pay the dealer absurd amounts to check this and check that. Oil change at Prestige in Ramsey NJ is roughly $100.

I heard back from one dealer in Westchester NY and he provided the following info: 15,000 mile service would run $248, and the 20,000 miles service would run $388

I don't even bother with tire rotations every 5k. Never going to pay for itself in the long run.

I own an Acura now and only take it once a year for tire rotation and oil change - but price is well under what Lexus charges. I only wanted to gauge what the 18 month and 24 month services charged since as I have been shopping for a new Lexus some dealers are offering a 2nd year scheduled maintenance free with deal.

The service departments at Lexus dealers seem to operate on the principle that, if people are willing to pay a premium price for a Lexus vehicle, they will also be willing to pay through the nose for service.
In the 15 years or so since I started driving Lexus vehicles, I've had all of my non-warranty service done at the Toyota dealer, and the prices that I have paid have been half or less what the Lexus dealer would charge for the same service. For example, at the Toyota dealer, I pay $41 (with a $10 coupon that is always available) for a full synthetic change, and the Toyota dealer uses the same oil and filter that the Lexus dealer would use. Lexus dealers typically charge $100 or significantly more for the same full synthetic oil change.
A number of years ago, I had a leak in the refrigerant line on my GX. The Lexus dealer told me that the entire refrigerant line had to be replaced, and they quoted me $1800 for the repair. The Toyota dealer quoted me $800 for the same repair, but they said that the entire line did not have to be replaced. Instead, they just replaced the fitting that was the source of the leak. The repair, including recharging the AC system, cost me less than $200, and the AC system, with that repair, has performed flawlessly in the 6 years or so since the repair was done.
These and other similar experiences have led me to choose not to use the Lexus dealer for anything other than warranty service.
