From what I read on the site, it is actually a navigation system on its own with Android running on it. You can use your phone through screen mirroring though. No steering wheel control but rather uses the car's "remote touch" pointing device. Except for the screen mirroring part.

The manufacturer/sales people confirmed you can control the android system using the steering wheel control - Next(fwd),Prev(Rev) , Volume up/down are supported.

how does the 12.3 work if you're adding the nav, it is only the smaller screen right ?? thought the 8" was the non nav screen ??

I'm planning to get the RX 450h screen with Nav which comes with 12.3 screen. But since the infotainment system isn't anywhere close to what's offered in other cars I want to have something that works for me. Having Android Auto or Android is a must for me, so I was thinking if I can the Android box setup it'll be the perfect car for me.
I like Audi Q5 technology and drive much better than RX 450h but it isn't roomy and also doesn't have V6 3.5.
