The gear indicator never changed from "D". I was probably going 65. The reason I know it downshifted is the RPM's jumped to almost 3,000 and stayed there even though the car was no longer accelerating.

I dont allow the engine to speed up to slow the car via downshifting. . Brake pads are less expensive than transmission components/ engine wear. My old toyota just coasted to a higher speed and would resume when it started to fall below the set speed . I prefer this set up to my RX . I consider myself a DRIVER that knows when to slow up. I turn off the cruise control going down long downhills or when I have to pass a truck and end up going 15 mph over the speed limit. Just my opinion. I wish this was a setting that could be changed or switched off.

Just a quick note, I remember reading the owners manual and there was something in there about not using dynamic radar cruise control on steep hills. I may need to go back to the manual to get the exact page.

● On steep downhills, or where there are sudden changes between sharp up and down gradients
Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill.

Probably true for the constant speed control mode, as well. Given the Full Speed Range CC, following down to a stop and back up, probably not ideal for San Francisco.

Default 2017 RX 350 Constant gear searching when Dynamic Cruise Control Set

We have a 2017 RX350 and when we set the Dynamic Cruise Control anywhere between 35 and 70 mph the vehicle is constantly shifting gears. Has anyone experienced this? Any solutions?

Depends on a number of factors - road grade, distance sensitivity set etc. If you're on flat land with no one close ahead of you, it should not happen.

We have same issue with our 2017. Our Service Manager says that Lexus is aware of this issue and has developed a re program fix but is awaiting Federal Gov't approval. something about the fix may affect fuel ratings approved by there Feds for the RX. Our Rx when in dynamic cruise control anywhere between 35 and 70 mph is constantly searching for gear with the slightest change in ground level

If you're on a relatively level road and your car is constantly changing gears, you have a problem with your car. I don't think the Federal Government has to approve anything. The dealer needs to fix it. Sounds like someone's giving you a line.
My cruise control works fine.

Didnt know drcc required fuel economy ratings....more likely a way to calm a customer down.

heres a neurotic way of gauging if an issue exists:

1) Get a level app or an actual level. When you say slightest change in ground level what are we talking about in actual degrees
2) Note down the distance marker set between between vehicles before the hunting occurs
3) Then measure the speed you had set the cruise, and the speed you were traveling before the hunting occurs

keep those measurements and bring it up to the SAs attention to see if this is within spec...
