Stress crack or do you have a clear bra, paint protective film, going half the way up the hood? There will be what looks like straight line across the hood where the film stops.

The metal is actually Aluminum. IF it is actually a crack, it might be clear coat or Paint.

Mines had lines across the hood from the protective plastic they put on the paint for transit. One about 3 inches up from the grille and another about 3 inches from the windshield.. My dealership did a really poor job detailing it before delivery! I just used some clay to take care of it. I can still see it a little but I need to really look for it.

Correct! If, in fact the aluminum hood is cracked, it signals a really big problem from Lexus. Aluminum, by nature is rather flexible (like aircraft wings), unless it has been subjected to heat that has changed the metallurgical properties, making it brittle & easy to crack. My aluminum skinned motorcycle trailer began cracking around several of the fasteners the first time I took it out on a long trip. The manufacturer took it back & re-skinned it, stating they had received several batches of garbage aluminum. They made it right, but I had to take lots of pictures & bypass the repair dealer to get it fixed correctly. Once it starts cracking, it's trash.

Hopefully, the OP does not have a crack & it's just an adhesive mark from some sort of protective film. I would strongly urge the OP to post pics so we can get a good look at what might be going on.

OP never posted anything again. My guess is he/she mistook the paint protection film as "stress crack" and was too embarrassed to come back to respond.

No harm, no fowl. I would certainly not make fun of them as it's an easy conclusion to have on a brand new expensive vehicle. I hope the OP comes back on as I am only here to help & not criticize.
