Default Contact Dealer Service Message

Hi Fellows, this afternoon upon starting my car as the nav screen cycled I got a message " Call your dealer for service" My car has only 950 Km and the 1st check isn't due till 1,600 Km.
Went to the dealer and the service agent said that it's a warning for the free service due at 1600 Km. I find it hard to believe that it reminds me so early (700 Km to go)
What do you all think?
Regards

The warning is not unusual. It starts warning prior to the time it is due. Yours does seem to be a bit early. Just cancel it and move on. You can even reset the maint. timer in the menus.

What is unusual is you posted this THREE TIMES!

Tapatalk?

Yes sorry about the posting the computer was misbehaving!

Cocal, I took care of the duplicate threads.

I'm not sure if the reset instruction are the same in Canada. This is for the US. Looking at the screen on the left side of the dash, use the arrows on the steering wheel until you see a roundish symbol. Go to Scheduled Maintenance, then press and hold the center button on the steering wheel. Select yes and press the center button again. A message will appear when it's complete. You might want to check the Maintenance section of the owners manual which is where I got this from.

Completely normal. They send it out sort of early...If it takes a week to get an appointment for the first check...600 km could be knocked off in a couple of days. I was 2 months before I hit the 16KM. Guess it depends on your mileage each day...

This way it gives you lots of time to see if you want them to modify anything....lots of info on this forum to get ideas....

Lexus Canada typically provides the first two service visits for free for new cars. The first one at 1,600km (1,000 miles) or 1 month is basically a followup check on the new car. This is where you can get the dealer to customize the settings of the car, and bring up any issues you have had in the first month of ownership. There is no oil change or other maintenance scheduled for this. It's probably also a way to introduce the owner to the Service staff and hopefully you'll bring the car back to them for future maintenance, Oh, they'll also wash and vacuum the car for you. Lol.

As for the OP's question - the maintenance minder is typically set by the dealer at 1,600km OR 1 month; so even if you had driven less than 1,600km (in your case 950km) in the first month of ownership, then the reminder will still show up regardless.

That's when Lexus Canada gives you the 1st free service, I guess they check that nothing has come loose. The next and last free service is at 8,000Km
