How to bargain with local dealers that are operated by the same owner?
Dear all,
I am living in Durham NC area, and the local Lexus dealers are Johnson Lexus Durham and Johnson Lexus Raleigh. From the name (and the way they decorate the stores) I would assume they belong to the same owner. In this case, does it worth spending time to visit both site and possibly let them beat offer each other?
I would also very very appreciate if you can provide me some price information for a 2017 RX450h from local dealers in this area.
Thank you in advance!

I can't speak for your dealership in particular but here in San Antonio, TX we have 2 dealers that are both North Park Lexus. When I spoke to the SA of one he said they were like brothers and had a sibling rivalry going on. So I guess it wouldn't hurt to try and see what they will do.

Even though they are owned by the same parent company doesn't mean they will sell the cars at the same price. Each dealership still has to sell a certain number of cars even if they are related. I found that it all depends on the sales manager. Within the same dealership, a sales manager can make a difference.
If they don't give you the price you want, tell them you are willing to go out of state to buy the car. That is exactly what I did for my RX and got exactly what I asked for.

Pole Position
Do not restrict yourself and do a wider search. It is well worth driving 500 miles to save $5000.

Don't even bother going to any of them if you're not interested in test driving.
Just send emails to a bunch of dealerships for a "Internet Price."
Then just pick the lowest one and go there.

Agreed, purchased many new cars. Some of the best deals I have gotten was from the internet pricing.
Dont be afraid to walk away at any time if they don't honor the price. I never by the car on the first price
quote, always go home to think about the deal and don't become emotional, once that happens they
got you. Good Luck!
