Default Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC)

I thought I would share some info of how and where our RX vehicles are made in Canada. I don't know much about the ones made in Japan, so if anyone has that info, please feel free to share. The models in the video are older than 2016, but the manufacturing is still the same.

This is technically the 3rd gen RX, but I imagine the process is similar. Proud to be Canadian

Go on the tour:
http://www.tmmc.ca/en/plants/plant-tours

When we were there, a trophy case full of J.D. Powers awards was displayed in their welcome center as at testiment to Toyota quality and worker dedication. We enjoyed the tour and took a second one immediately following the first.

Did they let you take another tour back to back? Was it any different? I'm estimating it's a little over an hour from either Toronto or Detroit, and wondering if it's worth the trip out. We have friends in Toronto and may combine the visits.

They had space on the second tour and allowed my wife and I to go back to back. Tours identical. Manufacturing fascinates me. Too much for me to take in in just one tour. You're not allowed anywhere near painting process. Or the test track outdoors or the train yard where cars are loaded onto trains. And you won't see much driving around the parimeter of the plant, as there is a berm surrounding much of the site as a visual barrier.

The tour maybe different now that 450s made there since I toured.

You can book special Lexus tours through Lexus.ca website. These are specific tours for Lexus owners and take you to the Lexus plant. You have to book well in advanced though.

Got the invitation email from Lexus.
It includes a fancy lunch for two per VIN.
The plant is about an hour away from me.

Here’s an overhead view of the Toyota/Lexus complex. They make the Lexus RX & Toyota Corolla at this facility & the Toyota RAV4 is built in another factory not too far away. I didn’t got to that one. If you go on the TMMC tour, you will be amazed at how clean the entire factory is. You could eat off the floors. EVERYTHING is recycled! Toyota is serious about their environmental impact both inside the factory & outside. If you get the chance to go, you won’t regret it. It was around an hour outside of Toronto, but WAY more from Detroit. I’m guessing at least 2 hours of the most boring drive I’ve made in a long time.

I didn’t get an invitation, I went to the website, picked a date & time & booked it. Part of the tour is run by the local business council. If you’ve never been to a state of the art manufacturing facility, this is a don’t miss event.

Yes, They have dates available once a month. Mostly on Tuesdays I think.
I guess the invitation gets you the lunch.
