mirror tap install for radar power line?
Hi, had a 2013 RX 350 and now have a 2016. On the 2013, I installed my radar detector on the stem of the rear view mirror along with a mirror tap cable for power. (Thanks to a post here from a 2013 owner with pics).
Can't figure out how to install the mirror tap cable in the 2016. Have been looking around the web for instructions / pictures on how to do it, but not found anything yet. Any ideas?

literally push the black cover down towards the dash to remove the black cover
then it shows the 2 plugs. I forgot which plugs plug into what. It should be online. I'll take a photo if I remember!
you don't need to remove the rear view mirror the link is just to show you to push the big black cover down and it should pop off easily. then it's like plugging in the black and red like any other

mirror tap for radar detector on RX350?
Has anyone tried installing a radar detector with a rear view mirror mount and tapping power from the self dimming mirror? I'm thinking of getting the following product, but want to know:
I also had issues with the dealer when i was having issues with my entertainment system - would turn off, or switch on its own between SAT/IPOD/RADIO when going over bumps. When the dealer ran a diagnostic, they said there was aftermarket work done on the car, so they wouldn't cover it until it was disconnected.
The mirror wire tap, looks more elegant and easy on the amazon site, but not sure how easy it would be to install/uninstall in practice.
- Will this setup work by tapping power using the auto-dimming rear view mirror on the RX350?
- Is it fairly easy to do?
- Will it impact warranty?

Do you have to take apart anything on the Auto-dimming RVM, by unscrewing, the modile behind the mirror, or does it easily come apart? If you have to disassemble, will it be noticeable if you ever have to take in 5(3 car for warranty work?

^^ anyhow, I decided to tap into the smaller sensor to the right of the main sensor. same picture that I have 2 posts up.
the red and white wires worked out perfect on the 2nd try, had to reverse the polarity.

Rear view mirror power & ground colors
Hey everyone...does anyone here happen to know what colors in the harness for the rearview mirror and power and ground? I have the mirror with all the safety stuff but the harness has 2 black, one brown, one red, and one purple. I'm wanting to hook up my radar detector to it and really don't want to have to buy a voltmeter, so I just thought I would ask and see if someone here knew the answer. Thanks in advance! -Bearcat
