I don't think that the TPMS is different from reading each wheel and sending it to a, you have a low tire or sending which tire is low. Personally, I use the electrical tape method!
There really doesn't seem to be much selection for either the 235/65R18 or 235/55R20 for winter tires. I'd be interested to know what options people are going with. I would definitely go with the 18" size to save on the cost of wheels and rubber. I prefer Michelin but the only one available is the X-Ice XI-2 which is very dated tire technology. Costco's website only shows the Blizzak DM-V2.

so the 20's will become the winter wheels, and I'll just get a set of something else for summer

I'm going with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV 235/65r 18 110 XL
I have had Toyo Observe GSi-5 and they were great winter tires. They come in a 235/65r 18.
I had them for three winters (approx 18K) and they gave me $100 each on trade for the Nokian's. They looked new with very little wear.

Typically you want a tire with tall side wall and slightly narrower width for winter tires. That's part of the reason for going down in rim size.
The complete set installed and programmed tpms was about $2600 CAD plus tax.
How are the new tires, if you got them installed already. I'm debating between the DM-V2 and Xi2. Road noise and dry handling is important for me. Most Edmonton winters are dry and icy at intersections rather than the wet slush out east.
I'm getting them installed tomorrow. I have the same tires on my Venza and they are very quiet. The traction is also great. They are actually quieter than the all season Bridgestone on my Venza.
Lol. Those wheels look so tiny and unsuited for the RX. I know that's how it's going to be with the 18s but it's just looks odd to me. That's what we have to endure living in Canada though! I still remember back in the day when I had steelies...
The wheels do look tiny compared to the 20", but your right, that's the price of living where there is snow. Mine look the same as Toyotaman7, slightly different wheel but the same look. You also notice the tall sidewall when you first put them on.
There is another option... One of the Lexus dealers puts snows on the stock 20" F Sport rims if you want. 235/55/20 but they are pricey and probably don't work as well in deep snow....but they look cool!
Yes, the rims look small and the tire wall is tall. However, it should save me from few more curb rashes.
Overall its not too bad. Also, I am planning to keep my car, so using the OEM rims in salt is not an option.
