A better solution would be to install an external battery for the dash cam. Mine is plugged into the cargo area power outlet to charge while driving, then it provides power to the dash cam when parked. The 12V battery isn't affected since the power outlets only work when the RX is turned on. The particular dash cam I have displays the voltage in the videos. It's 14.4 when driving and 12.6 while parked.

No, I don't. My dash cam is perfectly fine. Good for you!

Where is your camera mounted and how does the cord reach to the cargo outlet?

OP,
Do you have the official Lexus dashcam? I have the Lexus OEM dash camera. Not sure if this is only available in Canada and Japan. You may want to look into this because the quality is quite good and Lexus gives you a warranty on electronics.

Pictures are here. The Cellink battery came with a power cord but it had to be extended.

I know this is an old post but, I have the Thinkware F800 pro direct wired to the fuse panel with no backup battery, it runs all weekend long in parking mode and I have it set up to shut down at 11.6 volts and it’s never stopped recording. Also the battery hasn’t ever died with this set up. My 2007 Tundra still has the original battery in from the factory, only reason I swapped it out this year is because it makes me nervous going through another winter with a 10 year old battery, especially how cold it’s been here in northern Ohio .

I would definitely have have the battery tested. Automotive batteries are not designed to have a long constant drain to the point of complete discharge on them like deep cycle batteries. Automotive batteries are designed for high amperage at short bursts and they don’t last very long if they are constantly drained down to nothing.

I got the Lexus OEM dashcam installed by the dealer a few weeks ago and although it has a parking mode, I've never encountered battery problems.

Not the official one. It's a Lukas dash cam. They did not have the official one at the time of purchase. I have stopped using the parking mode since and have not had the issue again.
