THis is my first car with a start/stop button on it. So, let's say you turn on the engine in the car, but then you step out of the car and leave your key outside and you try to drive away. What happens?

The car beeps at you inside and outside. You can continue driving the car until you switch it off, then you'll be stuck at your location since you can't restart the car without the key. It won't turn off immediately because that would be too dangerous, especially if the car was to turn of in the middle off traffic.

dchar is right. A "key not detected" message will appear on the dash too. There's a few stories in the 3RX forum where this happened, usually after dropping off the significant other. Moral of the story, make sure the driver is the one with the key fob.

Another chance to forget, if your valet or service advisor isn't watching closely, dropping car off for service and you leave dealership with key in your purse or pocket.

Although I must admit Anita's description of an event has occurred more than once to my wife. It's never my fault.......
