Garage door programming
just got a new rx350 and have tried following the manual to program the garage door opener to no avail. Must be doing something very simple incorrectly as I have no issues programming my 2013. I press the learn button on the back of the opener and then press the mirror button 3-4 times but nothing happens. Anyone have success ??

The Lexus Delivery Specialist came to my house and programmed mine. Ironically, a friend got a new Ford Escape and had the same problem. I ended helping them. After pressing the Learn Button on the unit, they had to press the remote and the button in the car at the same time.

I've programmed many. 99% of the time it works like this:
1. Program the remote to the mirror first. Since your RX is a 2016, press and release the button on the mirror you wish to program. It should start flashing orange. Place the remote next to the mirror and hold down the button on the remote. After a short time, the mirror should start flashing green. Flashing green means you have a rolling code garage door opener (most are), proceed to step 2. Solid green means it's not a rolling code and your mirror should now be programmed.
2. Press and release the "Learn" button on your garage door opener. (DO NOT hold the learn button down. If you hold it down for too long, it will erase everything programmed to it. This includes the remotes.) Within 30 seconds, get back in the car and press the mirror button. Normally you only have to hold it down for 5-10 seconds. While holding it down and if the programming took, it will operate the garage door.
3. Grab a cold beverage and revel in your success.
Notes:
Remember that when using your mirror button to open the garage, you have to hold it down for about 1-2 seconds for it to work. It's not instantaneous like your remote is. Don't blame Lexus, pretty much all cars' garage remotes are made by Homelink.
When programming my new 2016 GS200t (same version of Homelink as the 2016 RX) to a newly installed Liftmaster My Q opener, it only required step 1. It's the first time I've ever seen that.
If you have a Genie, good luck. They program slightly different and can be slightly frustrating. You can always check www.homelink.com for instructions.
All of this is in your owner's manual.

After several unseccessful attempts, the following worked for me:
I used the program button on the actual overheard garage opener motor. While pressing it, I had somone press the mirror botton on my Lexus. Worked like a charm. For that solution you need two people, one in the car and the other by the garage opener.

Mine is programed, but it's not as good as the one I have in my LS or my old 15 ES, both of those never had issue could open from far away.
Now the one in the RX it hit or miss, really annoying when you have traffic behind you trying to get it to open.
Anyone else notice the range seems office?

Pressed the learn on the opener, then the button on the mirror. Maybe I got lucky?
I find the range very good. I can push the button at least 100 yards from the house and it works.

The range on my 2016 is good, probably better than the 2010 RX. One of my garage doors (too old) could not be programmed. I confess I always had trouble and just couldn't program either one. The Lexus consultant came to the house and did it. He was wonderful.

I tired through the remote programming and it did not work.
I programmed mine through the learn Button on the garage door opener by following the steps in the manual.
The range is excellent. And success rate is excellent too. Nice that you only touch the button once and it will try until it succeeds.

I found the garage door opener range on my 2016 RX was quite a bit less than the range on my 2005. Sometimes it wouldn't work sitting right in front of the garage door.
I added a length of wire to the antenna wire on my garage door opener and now I can activate the door from over 100 feet from the house. So far it has been 100% reliable.

I only open the door when I am on drive way. If you open the door too early some crook can slip into your garage, then you know what. My neighborhood is quiet
crime free area but who knows.

Troubles setting up garage to link to RX
So Hubby bought me a Black 2016 RX350 back at the end of Oct 2016. Call it Halloween treat or early Christmas present. Anyway...having been long time Toyota fans I was looking at building a Highlander when Hubby asked if I wanted to look at the Lexus. My dream car but thought it was unattainable. With 1 kid in grad school and 1 in college...well...you know how that goes. But Hubby wants to spoil me. Surprise me too! LOL
I am soooo in love with my new RX!! Got the pano moonroof, M Levinson stero, etc.
We got the car home and tried to link the car to the garage door. No luck! Followed everything to the letter, watched youtube videos...nothing. Then, my son helps out and and at the last minute, he decides to try moving the antennae that was dangling down from the ceiling garage opener. He remembered something about how these antennaes transmit and receive their signals a certain way. He shifts the antennae so that it is horizontal instead of dangling down. Low and behold...it worked. Our garage door opener is an old model so I thought it was too old to sync with my new RX. But that simple shift in antennae position fixed that. HTH someone else!!

I tried to program the Homelink several times at one session with zero results. Drove the car to the store and upon return I hit the mirror button out of habit and the door raised. Cannot explain why the program would not work in the driveway when i was trying to program. Oh well . . .
