Default Backup sensors and hitch mounted bike rack

How does the safety systems, like the backup sensors, work with a bike rack mounted in the trailer hitch?

When I have the bike rack on or the JetSki/trailer, you have to turn it off.

It is not a problem.

Do you have to turn off both the cameras as well as the proximity sensors? I was hoping I could still use cameras to aid in backing up.

If you turn off Intuitive Park Assist, it just turns off the sensors while the camera remains functional. (I don't think there is a way to turn off the camera)

Sorry for the delayed response but dchar said it perfectly. The camera runs no matter what. You can back the tow ball right under the trailer hitch with no one watching. It is awesome!

Default Hitch Bike Rack Interfere w/ Camera & Sensors?

For 2017 RX350, is it a given all hitch mounted bike racks will interfere with rear cameras & sensors or does someone know of a model that won't interfere?

If the hitch bar is in front of the camera it will interfere with the camera.

If the hitch bar interferes with the rear sensor on the bumper, it depends.

I found the hitch did not as it is in the center but when you put the bikes on, it sure does.

Not a big deal for me.

Default Thule Hitch Bike Rack causing brake assist when backing up

2017 RX350... I just installed hitch mount Thule platform style bike rack. When I don't have bikes, I obviously fold it up. However, when I back up the car, sonar alarms first and the car applies the break automatically. I turned off blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alert but it still stops the car automatically. What should I do? Is there anyway to shut off automatic break when backing up? Thank you in advance for your input!

You need to turn off ICS, Intelligent Clearance, which is located in the gauge cluster LCD screen

I use the Saris Superclamp EX. It works great.
BTW, you don’t have to turn off blind spot monitoring, just ICS and parking assist.
