Logic....or not...Going with the 45R closes the gap just enough and should make the ride slightly less firm than a 35 or 40. I don't really care about the ride, but would like to shrink the gap a bit more than stock. Yes I could lower it but am not going that route.

Thanks for posting this super useful information. So what I hear is that 10.5 ET30 will clear everything, front and rear correct? Why such wide rims on skinny tires? It's definitely giving the tires that stretch look, which I'm not sure belongs on a SUV. Has anyone tried wider tires than 265 without issues? Wide tires on wide rims tend to rub when you turn the wheels.

If anyone was to guess and you can custom build out your rim, what would be the "flush" fender offset for the RX? I'm thinking a 10 ET 30 would be a safe measurement and run a 275 width tire all around. Is it just me or does it look like the front fender can accept a more aggressive offset? FWD cars are so new and weird for me.

Has anyone weighed the stock wheels vs. the aftermarket 20s and 22s? If so, what are the weight differences?

What about stock wheels and tires vs. aftermarket 20s and 22s with tires?

The stock tire weight for the Michelin 235 55 20 102V XL is 13.2 kg or 29.1 lbs according to Michelin
Going to a Michelin 265 45 22 106X XL is 15.5kg or 34.17 lbs

I don't remember what the stock 20" wheel weights F sport or other, but you can be sure most 22" replacements will be lighter (should be) by a few pounds.

Thanks. If I can break even on the weight with an upgrade to 22s, I'm in for a set. I want to achieve that X5M wheel-fender ratio and look.

I don't think the set up would be heavier than stock. The Toyota/Lexus wheels are heavy in comparison to just about any replacement 22" wheel.

I'm going to visit N4S on Saturday or Wednesday to order my set. I'd like to go with 22x9 with 255/40/22 in the front and 22x10.5 in the rear with 275/40/22. I'm going 30ET in the front and 28ET in the rear. Looking to get the most concave wheel offering on the market to achieve this look:

I'm curious to know if two different size wheels negatively affects the AVS? Do you know?

N4S can also order the RS-R coilovers but they don't know how they would affect the AVS, if it all. Thoughts?

Your front looks good, but I think you may have some issues on the rear. The rear will move 30mm closer to suspension and stick out 34mm, towards the fender. Make sure you have enough clearance.

If your vehicle is AWD, the 2.1% difference, could affect your AVS and other safety features. Me personally would not go that route. I would be more inclined to settle somewhere in the middle like a 9.5 inch wheel. I think I know what look you are going for, but am a little hesitant to go that extreme with all the checks and balance that new cars go through for safety measures.

I would make sure that the company you work with has experience and can point you in the right direction, and give you true accurate numbers.

I continue to deliberate on what to do given I have an AWD 450H. There isn't much information out there on aftermarket AWD 450H wheel setups. I know I definitely don't want to go 10.5 all the way around. 9 or 9.5 all around, yes. 9 or 9.5 and 10 or 10.5 in the rear, yes. 10.5 and 10.5 all around, no.

Have you installed your set up yet? Thanks.

I'm anxious to sort this out. If I can't make a confident, 'educated' decision, I will go for 15/30 H&R spacers in the meantime.

I haven't got anything yet as I can't find an offset of 30. I could have them custom made but that adds a bit to the cost. I am also trading it in sooner rather than later, but probably for the 450H...in that case it would be the same anyway. There are some very nice set-ups higher in this post with people that have done it and experienced what actually works and what doesn't.

I am not prepared, or have confidence, to change the front and rears to something different. 9 or 9.5 would be just fine for me, all around. Yes I would love the look of a big fat rear, but ...just can't do it.

After extensive research and deliberation, I pulled the trigger today. Tiko at Need4Speed was extremely responsive, helpful, patient and gave me the best price.

22x10.5 30ET Vossen VFS-2 in Bronze
265/40R22 Continental Extreme Contact DW06
TireRack TPMS
RS-R T299D (New 450H specific coils)*
*I understand RS-R may release coilovers in the coming months that work with AVS.

Now, when the wheels arrive, were going to line them up against the RX for me to evaluate whether or not I like the Bronze against the white paint, black vinyl wrapped chrome and tinted tail lights. If I don't like the Bronze-white look, the wheels are going straight to the wheel finishers used by all the major wheel manufacturers to get them custom finished in one of the two different color schemes in the links below. Right now I'm leaning towards the color scheme on the MB.

I just returned from traveling so I'm hoping to break the 500mile mark on the odometer over the next few days.

First RX450H in the North America with RS-R 450H-specific springs on 22x10.5 bronze Vossen VSF2s.

Not digging the bronze too much so will likely custom finish them next month.
