Do you have a need to start your car with smart phone? You can have a very nice after market remote starter for 350.00 with at least 3~4000 feet range. If you use smart key remote the range will be like 30 feet, do you think 30 feet range is useful? You can add-on the functionality of starting with smart phone, it is possible too and won't cost
350.00 a month. Peruse Compustar web site or iDATA link, Fortin web sites. There are many choices. I installed one from iDATA link myself. Cost was ~200.00. This subject has been thrashed many times already. When I had Acura MDX, factory remote range was so pathetic, I had to install after market one too by myself. If you know how to read schematics, solder few wire joints it is a job for DIY'er. I installed so many remote starters, stereos, etc. for friends and family over the years.

Yup, my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and My 2014 RAM 1500 Laramie both came with factory remote start built into the key fobs and they do not require the FCA UConnect subscription to continue working after Chrysler's free 1 year subscription. All that expires is the locate vehicle and other "goodies" that to me are very unnecessary. My wife wanted the Lexus,

I have absolutely no need to be able to start my car from more than 30 feet away from where I can look out my window and start it in cold weather or hot weather. I'm sure many people have that need when they might be at work and want to start their car from their office or similar scenario. My whole working life I was an industrial electrician/technician working on extremely complex computer controlled machinery and doing very complex work. Still, I would never consider taking a brand new car I just paid around $60K for and start digging into its circuits which would require removing access panels, etc. You are much braver than me. More power to you Thanks, though,

Hi Slick, as long as you have the Enform subscription in force, whether you paid for it, or the first year free when the car is new, it works fine, but no subscription, no remote start, and no functional enform remote phone app

You need the highest level in order to keep the remote start functioning. Seems rediculous to me that a car of this price
doesnt have it built in like Chevy and Dodge.

Yup, it surely is ridiculous. The cheaper subscriptions have the car locator and status functions, but not the remote. The remote is 350/year with (HA HA) discounts if you do a multi year subscription.

They are having so many problems right now, I can't even sign up for the remote functions. They said to call back after Tuesday.

$350 subscription for one year. Wow. I guess the after market remote for up to 300 feet away is better, in that some one from Moscow or Shanghai or Mumbai is not using my$350 subscription to start my car.

That is not correct. The $250 per year Enform option includes Enform Remote (and Safety Connect and Service Connect).

say, my dealer mentioned there was a piece of hardware that can be installed in the vehicle, for the remote start to work to work on the fob and not need a subscription.
does anyone have any information on this ??
thanks.
