Quickest way to open the lift gate without remote is to lay your fingers on the gate while rest of your hand is close to the blue lexus emblem.

It used to work part time and now it doesn't work at all.
It just beeps, once then two short ones.

It's faster to just put everything down and open with hand.
Today I had a box in one hand, planter in the other, placed my shoulder near the emblem, nothing.... spun around make sure the pocket with the key is facing the gate, got close to the emblem once again...beep..beep...nothing..
Put everything down, got the key fob out. Placed it right in front of the emblem...nothing.
I probably looked pretty stupid doing all that lol..

The instructions say to use your hand, not any other body part. I had trouble with mine in the beginning, now I seem to have the knack.....place palm of my hand over the top half of the emblem, an inch or so from the surface. Takes about 2 seconds or so and it opens.
Also, make sure the option is turned on!

Mine works just fine with an elbow when hands are full. Hover slightly above. There's always the button above the license plate.

I just went by the instructions, never tried using anything else. I will have to give it a shot!

I have the touch free rear door lock, where you are supposed to just wave your hand over the Lexus emblem and the door will unlock and open. It rarely works, I see from the manual you can have the dealer adjust the sensitivity to a higher setting (I guess Lexus feels that owners are not quite smart enough to have it as an owner option). Has anyone else had difficulty with the touch free rear door? The side doors work great without touching them.

you don't wave your hand. thats the issue
try say 6" away, hand sideways, over the top of the logo, not the bottom to see if that works.
if the doors unlock, but the gate doesn't open, that is not a feature, thats an aborted open of the gate.

its super easy once you get the idea how it works.

It took me a while to get the hang of it, but now it works every time.

Often use my arm to open rear door.
Also while the door is opening or closing you can touch the emblem and the the door's movement will stop instantly - the best way to stop it quickly if it's going to hit something.

recently purchased a 2016 rx350 and the trunk emblem sensor seems to work 10% of the time. I brought it to the dealer, they got it to work once and every other try failed. Has anyone had this issue? Was Lexus able to resolve it?

I noticed in Techsream you can increase the sensitivity under "Customize". Maybe ask your dealer to make the emblem sensor more responsive.
