Holding your hand directly above the rear emblem, as opposed to over/across the emblem, unlocks the doors without opening the hatch.

That one did not work for me, I wonder if it's because I have the sensitivity set to high.

I tried a couple of times and it worked - came across it as I was standing at the rear of the car looking at my phone and my elbow was over the top of the emblem and the car unlocked. My sensitivity is standard.

How high did you hold your hand over the top of the emblem. I started about 6 or 8 inches above the emblem and as I got down to the top of the car above the emblem both opened at the same time.

Real close, maybe an inch or two.

I gave up trying to use this feature. I've tried holding my hand every which way I read about on here and it would work 50% of the time. Maybe. It opens every time I hit the button so that's what I do!

Works for me every time. I hold my hand or elbow as if I am blocking sun at the very top of the emblem. Position of the palm is paralleled with the rear glass rather than paralleled with the emblem.

Works for me most of the time. It only failed (unlocked, but the liftgate did not open), 1, when I tried to show off this feature to friends. 2, when my hands were full.

Perhaps I have a problem with mine. But it's not important to me.

Mine works but let's face it, it's more cumbersome to open that way. Just use the fob or the button on the hatch.

It may not be important to you, but I will guarantee it will be important to the dealer when you go to trade out. Demand that it gets fixed, you paid extra for it...

I too was having issues. I noticed that the sensor is in the top of the lexus emblem. If you hold your hand and cover the upper half it usually works. I've also noticed that I have to leave my hand there for a few seconds.

I felt the same & discovered what Vern just said. I lay my hand over the top of the symbol & hold it there until I hear the beep & my hatch opens every time, all the time.
