my dealership actually did this work a week ago, now i see the TSB, it's exactly what they did. it helped at the test drive after the work. but two days later, the drone came back - albeit less intense. the vibration and loud noise is still there - probably a tidy bit better. I told the dealership and my case manager at lexus crop that it didnot completely fix the problem. I just got a call from the case manger saying there is nothing more they can and WILL do now. they have just shut the door on the this issue. this is a band aid fix. I asked to try more, not just replacing the center piece, and the front part as well, but they said they WILL NOT do anything anymore about this.
Hope this fix works better for some of you, than mine. i think we have reached the end of this with Lexus.

Well that’s really discuraging, makes me wonder if I should even waste my time. Can’t believe that waiting over a year for a fix and it didn’t work.

That added mass is present in my 2017 450h exhaust. I wonder when they started adding that to the exhaust pipes.

just found this on the internet. I am going to ask if the dealership is willing to do it.

My 2016 RX 350 was having the same issue with a cold start. I brought it to my Lexus dealer and it ended up being excessive clearance of the exhaust manifold. My paperwork says replace right side exhaust manifold, gasket & gasket exhaust pipe. Once this was all replaced the noise is gone. Hope this helps.

Was it replaced under warranty? Do you mind posting your paperwork?

Just spoke with the service manager regarding the TSB. He went ahead and ordered me the parts but told be not to get my expectations up becuase the TSB states it will help REDUCE the drone, not eliminate it. I’ll update when the work is done.

Which dealership performed these modifications? Thanks.

Default Fixed my 2015 RX

My 2015 3rd generation Lexus has a different exhaust design but I've had the same exhaust drone. I finally gave up waiting on a fix from Lexus so I did my own engineering assessment. I isolated the vibration down to the section of exhaust that has the cat converter in it. It was definitely vibrating at certain engine rpm's and transmitting that into the cabin via the support hanger on this section. Another poster had installed a similar damper some time ago, so I decided to buy a couple of them and just finished installing them today. I'll need to wait for warmer weather to be sure, but the drone/vibration is GONE!!! I installed one damper on each side of the cat converter because I wanted to dampen the vibes at both ends. Not sure if I needed both or not.
Amazing coincidence, but the recently released Lexus(supposed) fix for the 4th Generation has a damper on this section of pipe as well!!! (Last photo) No idea why it took Lexus all these years to come up with a solution?????????
