I wasn't planning on getting it. But with all the options I wanted, the HUD was a part of the package in a way...

It's pretty nice. I mainly like the navigation and digital speedometer that it displays. I have the luxury version so no digital speedometer in the gauges like the fsport.

Rumor has it that you can't get HUD on a new build. They are having part issues. Can anyone confirm this?

i've never seen a 2016 rx450h that is made in japan.

I've got the HUD in mine with a January 2016 build date. Haven't heard if they're currently having parts issues.

Not too long ago all the 450h units were built in Japan but The move production to Canada for the last few years.

I hope they are addressing the sunglasses polarization issue

That certainly is annoying. I have prescription sunglasses that are polarized. Guess I'll have to get new ones.

I have a HUD on the 450H, and I love it. It's a wonderful piece of tech; very crisp, color, and huge. There is no white halo (as with older RX's), even at the brightest setting, and it displays useful stuff like turn-by-turn info, audio changes, lane departure, and a humongous BRAKE! if you come too close to the car in front. Some of it is programmable, too; for example, you can put the tach on it, or the EV stuff.

When I first heard about this $600 option, I basically thought it was a novelty. Sounded really cool, but it was a lot of money . After reading all these posts it is now at the top of my list for a must-have option.

Two other things in the back of my mind are triple beam LED lights. And the F sport option.

Does anyone know if the HUD can also display your phone log or displays the audio selection? My brother's M4 HUD does this. Would be super cool to see your call entries and select on with the HUD...His BMW also shows the album info etc..
