When the IS arrived sales of the ES actually increased. So sales of the RX could either increase, decrease or stay the same now that the NX is here...only time will tell.

The RX is the all time highest selling Lexus vehicle. Since inception (1990) the ES has sold 1,307,484 units. The RX since inception (1999) has sold 1,499,062 units. Now that the NX has arrived we will have to wait and see how it will affect the RX. Last month (November 2014) Lexus sold 22 NX's.
I knew it would be relatively close between the ES and RX. That's not a very large difference.

2016 Lexus RX render shows possible design
Render influenced by Toyota Harrier
The upcoming 2016 Lexus RX has been rendered ahead of an already confirmed world debut next month at NAIAS in Detroit.
The third generation mid-size luxury crossover from Lexus went on sale towards the end of 2008 so naturally time has come for an all-new model which has been envisioned in this render as a Toyota Harrier but with the big Lexus spindle grille. This is merely a speculative design but the real deal could have a lot in common and might also be influenced by the smaller NX crossover.
Details about the fourth-gen Lexus RX are scarce at the moment but it is believed the crossover will be enlarged to distance itself from the NX and thanks to the increased dimensions it will likely spawn a seven-seat variant featuring a three-row seating arrangement.
We will know for sure in less than two weeks when the new Lexus RX will premiere at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

yes, only 450h and its very expensive due to our taxes... so basically, it is more expensive than Q7 with V6 diesel, easily... GS had a same problem, but GS300h mitigated that a lot since it is actually affordable (2 years late for GS though). I wonder if they will do RX300h for Europe, with reduced weight it would work well for our markets. Probably not.
But RX450h is best selling Lexus for a long time internationally, despite being more expensive than very expensive GS450h :-).
As to other people looking for manufacturing, in FY2012 (last full numbers), Lexus JP produced 106k ES and 80k RX... plus around 80k-100k from Canada, and it is easy to see how much better RX sells Worldwide. 45% of Japanese production is expensive RX450h.
But RX450h is best selling Lexus for a long time internationally, despite being more expensive than very expensive GS450h :-).

Not as I see it. By my math, the difference is about 13%. Though that DOES represent a lot of single vehicles on an absolute basis, it's not a huge difference, margin-wise.
