I think it does matter. While I don't use that feature, I have noticed a bit of a jolt engaging DRIVE on loaners that had the feature enabled.

I believe so. Our is AWD and the one or two times I had tried it felt the same.

You never said whether you are using or not.
Whatever, try it with or without, it even makes a difference on a "slight" incline or decline.
