Two Issues w/ New Lexus
Hey all -
I'm not sure if either of these things are common, but here they are:
1) The larger rear seat doesn't fold properly when I pull the latch. I have to pull the latch and push the seat down (and work at it), Definitely not normal, so wonder if this is a common issue.
2) There is a howl coming from the rear that can best be heard when driving at maybe 25-40mph. It reminds me of my 3rd gen Tacoma when I first got it. Toyota's solution was to put caps in some of the holes in the frame or suspension, don't remember exactly. Anyway, has anyone else experienced this?
Appreciate the replies. btw, I searched and all I got was irrelevant results, so please include links to previous discussions if appropriate. Thanks!

It doesn't automatically drop over -- you do have to (a) pull the lever to release the latch, and then (b) pull/push the seat into the folded position. Sounds like yours might be a little stiffer than normal. Feel free to ask your service advisor to check it out, and see whether there is a lubrication point that could smooth it out a bit.
Probably this is the infamous "drone" from a resonating exhaust system (see other posts on this topic). Going from Gen 3 to Gen 4, they added 45 hp. to the engine, then programmed the 8-speed transmission to shift at the lowest possible rpm, resulting in what old-timers used to call "lugging". It makes the entire exhaust system resonate. It's a feature. Mine is quieter when running 89 or 91 octane fuel.

Good advice, I'll follow up with the dealer about the back seat. As for the "drone", I realize I notice it a lot more than just driving at low speed, like for example when I started the car up in the driveway this evening, it was pretty noticeable at first then quieted down a bit. Just something to get used to I guess.
