Fuel Pump Recall
Has anyone with a RX350L (mine is a 2019) been given a choice of whether they wanted the low pressure fuel pump removed through the interior or exterior (having the fuel tank removed)? My dealer in Newport Beach, CA has given me a choice; I'm choosing exterior.
Today my friend took his 2020 RX350 in and had the recall done.
Left the dealership, parked half a mile away for some pickup food. The car won't start again so he called his insurance company and the car was towed back to the dealership 1 hour later.
We will see what happens tomorrow....

I noticed that since my fuel pump recall service was completed, my fuel gage doesn't move from the Full mark until I've driven at least 100kms or so. It seams to move slowly at the top of the gage and move faster the closer it gets to Empty. Also, on the Lexus app on my phone, previous to the service it never showed a completely full tank (even immediately after a fill up), whereas now it will show completely full.
Viktor, it is such a pleasure to watch a professional at work. Thank you for helping us better understand our vehicles. Please keep doing your informative videos. They are very valuable to us. Thank you.
I received a notice in the mail this week advising me to bring in my 2017 450H for low pressure fuel pump replacement. I'm wondering who else had this done, and if the fuel tank has to actually be removed to replace? Any issues I should be aware of or ask about I guess is another question since this appears to be a fairly big job being inside the tank. Also interesting they call this special service and not a recall notice?
Edit: They moved this from the hybrid forum???? so I read thru it all. I see I'm the very first 450H that has reported a notice. I did read one other 450h owner that said his went out, but there was no recall yet.
Sucks to be the first, and too bad they moved this so other hybrid owner now have to stumble on it or never see it?

Update:
I called the dealer and had the parts ordered to get my service appointment. And just as I suspected, on the 450h the tank has to be removed because of limited access with batteries under rear seat. He assured me they've done many other removals on other models and have it down so no worries. I'm scheduling it with 20K service so not even an extra trip will be involved.
