Actual failures appear to be quite rare -- I don't think any have been reported on this forum. They've staged the replacements by model year -- the replacements actually began last spring -- I had my 2018 done in June or July. Here's your tip -- have your gas tank near empty when you take yours in for the replacement. They have to remove the rear seat and go in to the gas tank through a port under the seat, and it's difficult to avoid spilling gas in the interior of the car if there's much gas in the tank. The dealer will put gas in the tank before you get the car back.
Transport Canada Recall 2020-514 - dangerous issue
I just received a letter from Lexus Canada saying that my 2017 RX may suddenly stall due to a fuel pump issue. The letter reads that this could cause the vehicle to stall at high speed and can lead to "serious accidents".
Apparently, Lexus Canada is working on replacing the fuel pumps right now but I have to wait for my turn.
I am posting this here because I noticed that Lexus USA seems to be slow to react compared to Lexus Canada. If you are in the USA and you did not get a letter, maybe you guys also actively contact your Lexus dealership. Lexus RX 350s sold in the USA and Canada has the exact production equipment including fuel pumps. I attached part of the letter here so you can see the list of vehicles affected by this.... this is super dangerous according to the Lexus itself. Your vehicle can come to a complete stop while driving like 200 km/hr.
Did you see the first couple of pages of this thread?
Actually no but now I do. After spending so much time on this forum, sometimes I get software updates faster than my friends in the US so I thought that may be what's happening when I originally posted it. Oops, sorry.
I think a moderator moved my thread here, which is correct.
FYI, Lexus Canada finally sent me an email saying that all vehicles in Canada that have this issue are now in their database now and the website is up to date.
You can enter your VIN number there and it should show if your vehicle is affected, but.....
This is super annoying because the dealership keeps saying that they don't have parts to replace it. Lexus Canada keeps saying call the dealership and replace it ASAP. I was like, WTF?
I might have to be angry at someone at Lexus Japan HQ at this point. LOL
As most of us likely know by now, Lexus has issued a recall notice for about 3,34 million vehicles to replace the low pressure fuel pumps in our vehicles.
This will take a long time to fix all the vehicles falling within the recall parameters.
Most of us need our vehicles for transportation and life necessities.
What are you folks doing with your vehicles waiting for your turn to have the repair performed? The recall notice says the condition is potentially dangerous which puts us all at risk until the fix is performed.

I drive my vehicles until a recall is completed. You are at much more risk from your fellow drivers and yourself than from a fuel pump failure.
Went to the dealer for oil change and dealer said your fuel pump is leaking.
It's a 2016 model with around 78000 miles and there is nothing they can do to compensate.
Very frustrated.
Thank You.
My Lexus app says a fix for the defective low pressure fuel pump issue (2020 Rx 350) has been available since October 2020. I would have expected a call to bring it in. Anyone hear from them?
Is your car in the included recall list? I have a 2020 RX350 and my VIN is not (yet) been recalled.
Also, my experience is to not wait for the letter but to do an active search to see if the VIN is included. If you are eligible then book the appointment ASAP.
My wife's 4Runner had a recall that I found, we got it fixed....then 6 months later we got the letter.

I have a 2018 RX350 that was summoned for the fuel pump recall / reprogram ECM / replace door handles here in CT. It was done the end of January/ 2021. Has anyone noticed a significant decrease in MPG since the fuel pump fix to the extent of (4) to (5) MPG LESS, (same driving habits, same routes, same gas station)? Also I was never notified, when making my appointment, to come in with about 1/4 tank of gas. This Service Department drained (8) gallons of fuel, never replaced it and left me with......yeah, (1/4) tank of gas.
thanks
