2019 changes?
The RCF did not get a refresh, they've been adding little things here and there each year but no facelift for the RC/RCF. So it might not be far-fetch to think that they decided that their best selling car doesn't need a facelift.
Dealers of course try to sell what they have, but sound confident that there's not the mid year refresh this year. One manager said they would LOVE CarPlay as soon as possible as could get several thousand for it by not having to discount cars as much. I know it sounds silly, but navigation systems are that bad, and it would help. They say would be a first they released price and/or took orders (both have happened) before announcing any changes on either a mid cycle refresh or a change over year. Dealer will take order on a '19 now and has dates set for allotments to arrive already. Is conceivable they could drop in Alexa or other small changes as magazines noted. CarPlay not completely out of question, but the full refresh would not fit their patterns, or a successful one as far as sales by missing Q4 sales. We won't know for sure until it's out and there's nothing saying they couldn't make mid year change (ie. all vehicles made after X date get CarPlay).

I was in the market to upgrade my 2016 RX350 to 2018 RX450h F Sport. All the dealers are very aggressive in their pricing. One of the dealer mentioned that they will 2018 RX450h F Sport by Sept 19 however, they don't have visibility to expected changes of now or even the pricing but they did mention that the incentives will not be as good as they are for 2018 which i agree. Some other dealer mentioned that their are no changes at all in 2019 vs 2018 and no apple car play expected, no changes in inside and outside expected either. I am still going to pause my search for new car just to make sure that i have seen 2019 before i buy.
I am in a similar dilemma. I had a 2016 F-Sport and thought I wanted a truck last year and now I really want my F-Sport back. I found a new 2018 F-Sport with every option and colors I want (Rare) but I don't want to lose Carplay. It is tempting to drive 9 hours to get the 2018 F-Sport since its perfect and a great price. I probably should pause my search until the 2019 information comes out and upgradability of Carplay is known.
I am under the impression that number of people are being unusually obtuse when the information is out there somewhat about the updated RX.
Exactly 12 months ago in August 2017, Lexus personnel were spotted testing mules of the MMC RC and standard length RX in Europe, not yet sporting their final designs.
No has even bothered to mention this within the thread, which makes me wonder if many of you are looking around for information hard enough?
Possibly these updates might arrive in early 2019, as Lexus rarely will test mid cycle changes that long. They are coming soon, plus the LC convertible prototypes will be on camera as well very soon. (saw a mule in February)
Yes, that is how it should be (thank you). If people are so focused on year to year changes, they would do themselves a favor and make sure they are aware when these actually go on sale. Many times in this thread, it has been wrongly stated the AL20 started with the 2017 model year.
If someone is not even able to accurately remember when it arrived, then please don't comment on that and mislead other people. I don't comment on items in which I lack awareness or accuracy, to avoid confusing people. Thumbs up for that informative post JDR.
Good point, as until it is shown, nothing is known. I don't trust C&D, as they've proven to be rather indifferent towards Toyota MC products against American and European brands. American automotive media isn't all that reliable regarding reports on Lexus.
Over three years ago, it took me dissecting some Japanese sources, marrying it with historical patterns & some product planning guesses (plus one insider tidbit), for C&D to realize Lexus was redesigning the LS for the 2018 model year and not 2017. Particularly that it would debut at 2017 NAIAS.
I was proven right with time, while so much misinformation was put out until rough half a year before reveal.
Lexus usually will be seen testing facelift prototypes 1 year in advance at most, not nearly 2 years. It's coming soon, particularly because the move to GA-K is coming sooner than later. They cannot waste money on a refresh, to only gain little ROI for 1-2 years or lose money.

Lexus usually does a refresh at this point. The 4RX is entering its 4th model year.
They refreshed the 3RX for year 4 (came out for 2010, refreshed for 2013-Spring 2012).
They refreshed the 4GS for year 4 (came out for 2013, refreshed for 2016-November 2015).
They refreshed the 3IS for year 4 (came out for 2014, refreshed for 2017-November 2016).
They refreshed the NX for year 4 (came out for 2015, refreshed for 2018-Fall 2017).
So the RX is due.

Found the MY19 RX sales brochure on the Lexus site. MY19 appears to be a carryover and no refresh. :-( https://www.lexus.com/documents/broc...d-Brochure.pdf

For everyone else:
There is a refresh coming for the AL20 RX, especially that the RC (XC10) has now been updated and was running parallel in mule testing during 2017 to the RX. They are only a few months apart.
Like the facelift GX (MY20), the RX is running behind and both will be updated in the first half of 2019. Numerous people already pointed out previously little to nothing was happening MY 2019, but it didn't negate the reality of upcoming major changes shortly afterward.
MY 2019 will be a short run, because for puzzling reasons both the GX and RX missed deadlines, which the RC facelift was able to meet them.
Lexus has too many launches this calendar year, which have been spaced out and delayed into half of 2019.
