Exactly, the bodies are dipped at the factories and have great coverage for rust protection - far better than some guy "trying" to cover every part of the car through holes/gaps or whatever. In fact the rust can often occur where they drill the holes to spray the gunk. Great marketing and I've never taken it in 37 years. Had cars for 17 years and 22 years with no problems plus a couple of shorter term vehicles.
If I'm not mistaken, Manitoba doesn't use as much salt. They use more sand than salt.
Calgary, Alberta use a lot of salt. The City love it and it actually works. The problem is they also sand the roads. Basically the salt mixture has some gravel and sand particles. The next thing you know is that my 4 month old RX already has a windshield crack.
