Hitch Bike Rack

I installed the Curt 13272 on my 2020 RX350 base. It required just small cuts to the fascia on the bottom, where they cannot be seen. The mount, though, is only good for bike rack; I would not tow even a light trailer with the way I mounted the hitch. I use a 1UP 2" Super Duty 2-bike rack.

Here's my current setup, which is the 2" SD (Super Duty) 1UP with the second carrier attached. I now keep PKSB turned off all the time, as I carry at least one bike every day and got tired of forgetting to disable it. I just tested it turned on without bikes and the empty, folded up rack did not trigger PKSB. I keep all the other sensors enabled all the time.
Note that I installed a Curt hitch and used shims to lower it so that I did not have to make a visible cut to the bumper. I posted pics of that install further up in this thread (~August 2021 - let me know if you can't find the post.) If you are using the factory hitch, or an aftermarket that is mounted higher, I can see how the empty rack would trigger the parking sensors. There might be a relevant difference between the HD and SD racks, too.
(Pardon the dirty rack/vehicle. I did a gravel race yesterday in muddy conditions and haven't washed the RX yet.)
@bamalam you mention in another post that your 1UP hitch rack does not trigger alerts when it is empty. Hi have a 2020 RX350 and a 1UP 2" HD single bike rack and it still triggers sensors. Do you have a picture of yours installed to compare to mine? Thanks.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. My hitch was installed by the dealer and is Lexus standard. They cut away part of the silver bumper piece when they installed it so it sits up higher than yours. I will try with the rack tilted up and if that does not work, I will just have to turn PKSB off all the time.
I think I've decided on the Curt 13272 Class 3 Trailer Hitch with 2" receiver. It currently sells for $164 at Amazon.
For the bike rack, I like the 1up 2" Super Duty Double (expandable up to 4 bikes). ~$700 at 1up. A little expensive, but better than having bikes rattle or fall on to the highway.
Anybody have these two items paired? If so, do you like the results?

This setup works perfectly for me. As described in my installation posts I shimmed the hitch lower so that I did not have to make a visible cut to the bumper fascia. I've had no issues with this setup and get positive comments on it frequently from other riders. BTW, a riding buddy had his bike fly off his rack last weekend while driving. It was one of those strap-around-the-wheel style racks and the strap broke. It reminded me again of how much I like the 1UP.
EDIT: I keep forgetting the installation details are in a different thread. See Anyone get Lexus to order the hitch kit? - Page 26 - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion

Hi All,
Do any owners of an RX (I drive the 450h 2016) have recommendations for a rear bike rack? I read in some other forums related to bike racks that there can be issues with the parking sensor and auto braking (which I don't think I have). Wondering if anyone has a good experience with a product.
Thanks!

There are a couple of other threads about bike racks and the mods will likely move this post to one of them. You can see my rack here: Hitch Bike Rack - Page 4 - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion and how I mounted the hitch here: Anyone get Lexus to order the hitch kit? - Page 26 - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion.
I am using a 1Up super duty rack for 2 bikes on my 2019 RX 450h. I have the sensor switched off to disable the braking function upon backing up. Great rack-very well made. I am not worried about security of the bikes as we don’t leave them unattended on the rack but there are several options from 1Up( and others) to address the issue. No security is absolute, however.
I just ordered the Thule EasyFold XT for our Curt hitch. It wasn't the cheapest, but seemed the easiest for me to attach, use, remove and store in our shed. We only use two non-electric bikes and I wanted something that would be easy to load, it even comes with a built in ramp for the bikes.
Time will tell whether or not it was a good purchase. I'll attach some photos after I get it installed.
