Default Why, Hello There 3-Row RX

Why, Hello There 3-Row RX

Introduced almost 20 years ago, the RX became the best selling vehicle for Lexus and was the world's best crossover before the term crossover ever had any weight in the automotive industry. Lexus looks to capture the market once again with this three-row variant caught testing out in SoCal.

"These new entrants for the model could also give Lexus an excuse to update the style of the vehicles as to keep up with the newest design language."

Umm, what is the newest design language? AFIK, the RX just got that last year. Is there something I'm missing? Are you talking a 5RX? Too soon IMHO.

Well, my daughter sat in the trunk last time. So I already have my poor man's 3-row RX

I never have more than just me in the RX 99% or the time. The rear seats are for keeping gear. No one ever back there. 3rd row would be a waste for me, like my LX, I wish the seats were not there.

Got to agree with you Greg, when I trade cars the rear seats are always pristine and brand new. Often folded down and protected from wear.

I laugh when I hear the third row discussion. I'm thinking of going to a car customiser to get the passenger seat rails extended backward to give my front seat passengers an acceptable amount of leg room.

Is it she to assume a 3-row RX will not come in an F-Sport trim?

Is this good enough?

I hope it looks okay.

Had a decent 3 row RX been available when our 3RX lease ended, we likely would have purchased one. Instead we went with the Highlander to get the 3rd row.

I see more RX F Sports now than I ever did before so I don't see why they wouldn't offer it..

Its a little disappointing they are using the old existing platform instead of a clean sheet design. They are making the 3rd row for the sake of having one with a halfhearted attempt.

As someone who needs to stick a few small kids in the car, I'm probably their perfect demographic. Heck, I'd be fine with LATCH tethers in the trunk to stick car seats in safely and wouldn't even need a third row! But even a sham third row would be welcome for my family- I'll definitely be trading one of my RX450h models in for the third row, assuming it will come in a hybrid too.
