First off I would test drive the exact model in your home town.
The dealer will issue you a temp. tag with a fee once you signed for the car. (giving notice in advance that your buying the car)
Your sales tax is paid when you get back home and at the same time when you purchase your plates...in Ohio my county sales tax is 6.75%
Have the salesman pick you up at the airport and take you to the dealership.

Who did you speak to over there? I’m tryin to get the best deal too. Been to Westminster and Newport. No decision yet. So far westminster has the best price. 58800 out the door for a loaded rx350.

thanks !!
my wife went to the local dealer, who has the 350 in the 61k trim we would want, she wanted to see interior colors to make a choice if she would part from black, she was shows interiors through the locked doors, peeking through the window. ridiculous, i had given her the green light to purchase if she found an combo she liked in a gas, but the experience was so poor she left without pursuing anything. The other day, i wanted to see a brown interior, rode 40 minutes to the dealer, then waited 2 hours to look at the interior, had to ride back home in rush hour and rain. 2 hours to unlock a door ?? amazing
most of our experiences have been poor at this dealership, there is only 1 dealer with 2 locations in my state. could be the luck of our salespeople, not sure, but not enjoying it at all.
the warranty and service side has me concerned with there being only 1 option in the state too.
still enjoy the vehicle, got some amazing pricing from places south and west, 16% or so, not sure what to do, hmmmmmm

Hey All,
First I have to say that this thread has been so helpful in my shopping process. I have been able to go in knowing if the dealer was playing games or serious because of the information that I found on here. That said I was hoping to get some feedback on the deal that I have so far.
I am coming from a 2015 GS F-Sport.

Here is what I am getting:
2017 RX F-Sport
- Nav with Levinson System
- BSM/ Intuitive Park Assist/ Rr Cross Traffic Alert/Auto Braking/Panoramic View Monitor
- Color Heads Up Display
- Panorama Roof
- Touch Free Rear Door
- Triple Beam Headlamps
- Tow Prep Pkg

MSRP - $60,950
Discount - $4000
Rebate - $3000

Total - $53,450

Does anyone think that there is any more play to get them down more or is that pretty solid.

Thank everyone any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Target minimum 10% off MSRP and forget the rebate which is direct from Lexus and doesn't impact the dealer.

I agree with mikemu30....$4k discount is no way near enough.
I have placed an order for a '18 NX300 F Sport @ 5.26% of the msrp.

If the NX F Sport is around $50K, then your 5.26% is only $2630. The same 5.26% on an RX350 at $60K would be only $3156. Both less than $4K.

I'd expect very few discounts until Christmas or later. Right now, dealer supply of the 2018 NX's is small, so they will likely sell a a premium.

First of all, thanks to everyone on this thread/forum for some valuable information. I've been hunting for an RX 350 via email for a couple of weeks now. I'm in WV and I've reached out as far south as GA and as far north as NY/NJ. I've had a number of responses and have gone back and forth with a number of dealers. At the moment, the best I'm getting is around 9% (before the $2k incentive).

I've received the best numbers from NJ - $54931 for $60,275 MSRP - came back with that number quickly. I shot back wanting to get closer to 52,500. He shot back that it wasn't possible. I inquired about getting closer to 54,000 (just over 10%). He said he would need a deposit to go forward to his managers with that number. I wasn't keen on that. I also had other irons in the fire. Unfortunately none of them went anywhere. NY came in with a similar number - $54995. Slightly lower doc fees there (75 vs 419 in NJ), similar travel distance for me. NY did not respond to my request for a better number. I finally got on the phone with NJ - same deal basically, he'll go to his manager w/ a price of $54k with a deposit.

Since all of my other opportunities have stopped responding (or couldn't get close to NJ), I'm not sure what to do. He's telling me he can't get lower than 54 and 54 may not even happen. Mentioned that they will offset losses some when a local buyer comes in because of servicing etc.

Thoughts on how I should proceed? I'll admit to being pretty set on a color combo - blue/brown and to an extent some of the features (pano moonroof especially, which is difficult to come by on non-lux). I'd probably be willing to go with a lower priced non-lux vehicle if I could get a better overall discount. However, I'm getting better discounts right off when asking about lux packages. My closest dealer came back with a higher number than NJ did on a $54k msrp vehicle... like a 2% discount...and didn't seem to want to deal much at all.
Thanks for any info!

I think 10 - 11% off MSRP EXCLUDING Lexus cash back is the sweet spot from my experience. Some have said they've achieved higher discounts but I wasn't able to in north Jersey and I certainly wasn't going to shop the country for an extra $500 or even $1,000 off.

Thanks. Got it for $53,800 before incentive. 10.7% off MSRP ($60,275). Flying out to pick it up Monday morning. A lot of back and forth with other dealers for less desirable color combos and packages - this was the best deal I could shake and I'm good with it. It will be the wife's daily driver but I'm looking forward to spending the first 7+ hours in it Monday on the way home

One more quick question - I know taxes are based on my state's rate ... what about title and licensing? Are there any registration fees that I would be required to pay that are specific to NJ or would they all be based on what my state charges (title, reg, etc)?

Good question and I don't know the answer. I presume it's titled in the state in which it was sold but then you have to register it in your home state. Good luck with the RX - you will love it.

Default Happy new RX 450 owner in MO

Just purchased our new Lexus RX 450H this past Friday. Using this forum, along with several other resources, I was able to get a great price on a brand new Nightfall Mica w/ Parchment interior with almost all the bells and whistles.

MSRP: $61,499 (they had quoted $61,010, but it was a slightly different model - they gave me the all weather mats/cargo tray and cargo net/wheel locks/key glove since it was their mistake)
Panoramic View Monitor
Cold Weather Package
Touch-Free rear door
Bi-LED headlamps...
Luxury Pckg
Panoramic Moonroof
12.3" Mark Levinson Nav system...
Towing Prep

Would love the HUD, but they are extremely rare in these parts.

Dealer emailed me with an OTD price of $51,195. Felt that was too good to be true, he actually told me he fat-fingered the price in his email, but didn't hesitate for one second to honor what he quoted.
Total with TTL was $52,702.47 which I feel was a great price for this vehicle.

Ended up being a great experience - too bad my local dealer wouldn't even give me a real quote to try and be competitive, even though I told them I was doing my homework. Had to drive 4 hours away, but I have no regerts...!
