That doesn't look promising.

I would call Amsoil and mention it. That can of quality is NOT Amsoil!

Toyota Lexus oil filters work really well. I use them on all my Toyota vehicles and the price is super reasonable.

I think im just going to stick with toyota filters. I talked to amsoil and they said after the pandemic they were pretty much scrambling to get filters made so they out sourced em to Mexico. They offered to send me a different one but i kindly declined and they are going to issue a refund and 2 5$ gift cards. The weird thing is they are super proud that their oil is made in USA.

no reason to not use OEM. QC is consistent and never had a single problem. also cheap in bulk.

Certainly true but filtration is better with many aftermarket brands.
The caveat, is that the oil change interval must be shortened with them.
They filter out more particulate matter and therefore, their flow is somewhat restricted.
5,000 miles is the most with an aftermarket.
Toyota filters do not "filter" as well, but they keep the flow constant, even when the guy goes to 10K mile intervals.

They are not the best at filtration but that's intentional.
Toyota has to cover for the guy who goes on 10K+ oil change intervals.
A Royal Purple will filter better than Toyota but its flow rate is reduced without greater oil pump pressure as it clogs.
If you stay under 5K, in my case, well under 5K, you get better filtration w/o much sacrifice in flow.
But you are spending more time/money in that scenario.

Flow vs Filtration.
Better filtration with Royal Purple and better flow with Toyota.
RP filters at the sub-20 micron level while Toyota is 25 micron+.
That's the reason.

any particular reason you like the royal purple over the other aftermarkets out there?

Made in USA, tests very well.
Purolator Boss is also excellent but the product quality seems less than the Royal Purple.
If you change your oil at sub-5K (I'm at 2K - 2.5K) either filter will offer optimal filtration and excellent flow.
Toyota filters are fine, but they cover a much wider range of car ownership.
Leased cars at 10K+, so that filter must keep sufficient flow to do so.
So it just doesn't filter as well.
It comes down to simple physics for 85% of the issue.

why would you want to reduce flow? Cut open the filter after the first 2 oil change and you won’t find any shavings.
i would say it’s worse for the engine with less flow. Especially hybrids where you want max flow with star - stop operations.
