This is a true Apples to Oranges comparison, but here you go.

We have a 2015 RX F Sport and are very happy with it, but to answer your question, If it was me and I was single I would get the GS.. On the other hand you need to ask yourself what you're looking for in a vehicle, for example, do you need the extra "utility" the RX will give you over the GS?

I think you should take each one on a long test drive and see which one you like better.

I think soccer moms go for the MDX with 3rd row. I see mostly middle aged or older people driving the RX....that's why the bold styling this year to appeal to younger buyer. My wife isn't single but prefers the RX over a car because of the ease of entry, seating position and the utility of the rear storage. I like the resale of the RX. They hold value well, in high demand for used. But if you are an aggressive driver the GS will handle better.

I am 78 and if I were single I would keep my 2016 RX350 and try to find a younger women-- someone about 70 would be great.

Single with no kids, the GS350 for sure, it's a blast to drive. For practicality, the RX350. If you have any kid(s), it is much much easier to load the kids, stroller, groceries in the RX350. Surprisingly though, the trunk space in the GS350 isn't all that bad, you just don't get the vertical cargo space like you do in the RX350

GS is a great sports sedan. The only neg for the GS is that the design is a little old. I don't like buying cars when the next re-design is 1-2 years away. Get the RX and the design will be fresh for the next 5 years.

One of the main reasons why I purchased the 4RX is because it didn't look like the typical soccer mom crossover. I was looking for a new SUV, and HATE crossovers. While I was replacing a 94 4Runner, I didn't like the boxy look of the new 4Runners. The GX was overkill for me...(V8, AWD, third row seat and that barn door on the back). I test drove an Explorer, but it drove very soft to me, like driving on marshmallows, plus, for the price, it was cheap plastic inside the cabin.

I keep seeing more 4RXs on the road...most are male drivers, versus females driving older RXs. Plus, my sister in-law drives a 2014 RX...she hates the look of the new 2016 RX. Bingo! That is what partly motivated me to purchase the 4RX.

I wouldn't worry about the "soccer mom" aspect of the RX. I have an RX (2013) and a GS (2015), and will happily drive either one, either toting around my family or by myself. Both are great cars. Can't lose either way in my opinion.

Mt wife just purchased the 4RX and her only concern was "this looks too much like a guys car particularly the "aggressive looking rims" However, after driving it she was sold.
I drive a 2015 Land Rover Sport and also love her car and have no problem driving it in public.

I think 1, 2 and 3RX are more like soccer mom vehicle, but 4RX doesn't. My buddy had 14 RX 350 F-Sport, but when I got my 2016 RX 350 F-sport, He placed order on 16 RX 350 and sold the 2014.

All midsize or larger crossovers have some element of soccer mom to them. The 4RX looks edgier, but the utility vs. performance trade off relative to a GS isn't any different. I like the F-Sport look on most of the lineup, and the GS was the only Lexus loaner I've had where I enjoyed driving it. If I didn't have kids I'd be in a sedan.

However, I do have kids. When I switched from car to crossover I did appreciate not having other SUV or truck headlights in my face at night anymore, not slowing down for most speed bumps, and being able to see over obstructions when pulling out from side streets. I've also noticed slow people in the left lane move over way more frequently with a massive SUV behind them.

I had that concern too. But having all our male friends and relatives drool over it makes me proud. It looks massive but still handles like a car.

If I were single, with no kids, I'd get a GT coupe, something like 911 or an upcoming LC
At this point, I do not see a reason to get a sedan, if I want sport, I do sport, if I need family, I do SUV .
I guess I can see where you need to carry your friends around, so friends go in the back of the sedan. Still, I'd do the sports coupe and tell them to get there themselves :P.

If utility and practicality is important, then go for the RX.

If driving dynamics and performance is important, the go for the GS.

Test drive both to see which fits best for you.
