Because of an apparent mistake in the 2016 U.S. Lexus RX brochure, many people are under the impression that Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM) was removed from the 2016 base hybrid trim and that only the F Sport trims now have it. After many discussions with my local dealership and Lexus customer support, I finally received a definitive answer today: VDIM is included on both the base and F Sport 2016 RX 450h, and on the F Sport 2016 RX 350. Only the base RX 350 does not include VDIM. I hope that this helps others who may, like me, value the improved skid avoidance gained from VDIM being included.

 

Hey, thanks for that. I get my new Rxh (not F-Sport) next week and was pondering why they would leave that out. I think I'll quiz my dealer rep and see how smart he is on this topic.

 

I got my new Rx450h last week and had the tech specialist research VDIM. He forwarded me an email that was sent to a Lexus engineer who said the base Rx450h does NOT have VDIM. Sheesh!

 

Page 382 of 2016 manual suggests VDIM is included. Note that above VDIM, Adaptive Variable Suspension includes (if equipped)

Best way to confirm I guess, is on a build sheet with option codes, just see if the vehicle has that option code and thats definitive proof right there

 

I was very concerned by the answer that TexasRxh received from his dealer, so I checked back separately with my dealership and also with corporate Lexus Customer Service last week. I told both that I didn't want someone just again reading and interpreting the conflicting information that Lexus has published on VDIM being on or not being on the 2016 base RX hybrid, but instead, wanted a DEFINITIVE answer from those that actually know within the Lexus organization. It took some effort for each to get this, but they both replied back to me with the same answer today: VDIM is on all 2016 RX's EXCEPT the base 350. My dealershop got their answer from the Lexus Digital and Product Field Manager. The Customer Service person got her answer from the Distribution Department, which she says knows exactly what is and is not on each vehicle. Like TexasRxh, I've been very surprised and frustrated by how difficult it has been to get this simple question answered.
