2016 RX 350 OEM amplifier
here is the speaker of the front door. Dammm look at the size of the magnet..LOL. I'm going to install dynamat when I change out the speaker look pretty un-insulate to me.
Big manly magnets made from materials that have been around since the beginning look impressive and sells to the bigger must be better crowd, but newer more expensive and much stronger magnets do actually exist in very expensive speaker designs.
But I doubt that is the case here.
For our 2016 Lexus RX model, the Mark Levinson System features 15 speakers with the following impedance and rated input power:
- Front No. 3 Speaker Assembly (2 Speakers), Rate 8 O (6.5-9.7 O), 4 W
- Front No. 2 Speaker Assembly (4 Speakers), Rate 8 O (6.5-9.7 O), 4 W
- Front No. 1 Speaker Assembly (2 Speakers), 4.2-6.2 O, 9 W
- Rear No. 2 Speaker Assembly (2 Speakers), Rate 4 O, 0.5 W
- Rear Speaker Assembly (2 Speakers), 3.6-5.6 O, 18 W
- Quarter Side Speaker Assembly (2 Speakers), Rate 8 O (7-10.6 O), 4 W
- Rear No. 3 Speaker Assembly (1 Speaker), 3-5 O, 12.5 W
No I just add the power sub. To change all the speaker then you need to change the OEM amplifier then it's more complicate. I wait until somebody make the harness that they can by pass the OEM amplifier but still keep all the function like voice activate, gsp guidance....etc then I will change everything to Focal
I run a Audio control LC2I of from the sub in the trunk then feed the signal to a Pioneer TSSWX2502. I chose this sub since it's the most compact power sub and has good review. Depend on your taste of music if you like hip hop, dub step and rap go with the 12" model. I listen to the 80's music new wave, syn pop and new age. The whole project cost around $200...

Gonna have stereo guys do it but I wanted to see what parts I need to buy. I like to buy online first, alot cheaper and have them install it.
so..
1. sub amp
2. sub with a sub box
3. audio controller
Is there anyway I can just remove the 8 inch sub from the back left trunk and put in my own 10 inch sub as long as the ohms are the same? From the diagram it looks like 3.5 ohms.
audio LC2I amazon $66
Pioneer GM-D8601 amp $109
Pioneer TSSWX2502 $109
wiring kit $39
JL audio C2-350x $75
JL audio C2-570x $112
JL audio C2-600x $114
The whole project cost around $600 but if you ask someone to install for you expect $1200. After all it's still a Toyota so all panel are hold together with plastic clip.

Nice... So all you did was add a sub amp and a sub and you used an audio control to feed the signal?

The OEM sub is at 2OHM but the amplifier only send 32w rms to it. So it's not enough to satisfy your bass taste. Plus they put it in an enclosure made for the oem sub. If you put a different sub it might not sound good because of the air volume of the enclosure. Just leave it alone and add a seperate sub and amp

So how do we control the bass?/
Something like this?
Something like this?
the amp has gain and frequency control also the LC2I has frequency control so you just need to have someone adjust while you sit in the front. Just tune it so the bass blend in with your system but not overwhelm. It will take week before you will find the sweet spot since the amp and sub need time to break in.

Can you tell me which wires did you tap into for the sub lines? thanks!
Has anyone tapped into the speaker wire outputs on the mark levinson amp to add external dsp? Thinking about doing it to my rx. But don’t know if it will interrupt any stock features. Any help would greatly be appreciated!!!
